I must say, I can't wait for May 6th so that I can test this out. But anyways, this thread is for the purpose of speculating and discussing the titular weapon.
What We Know: -Light Weapon -Gallente design -Travel time -Follows a parabolic trajectory. -Anti-vehicle focus -Dumbfire
What I've Seen: -Appears to be a single shot per magazine. ---In the Battle for Caldari Prime trailer, at around the 1:12 mark, it is seen firing once. Immediately after, a hatch opens on the top. From what is seen in the concept art, this appears to be a reloading hatch. ------Unless, of course, it was not a first shot. -Prototype deals at least 550 damage to vehicles ---Even if using damage mods and maxed skill, still above 400 base. -Either very short charge or not charge at all, as the Logi using it fires after sprinting. So that is the extent of my knowledge. If you know anything, please don't hesitate to share. |

If this ends up being forgegun with sights, I might have found a new toy. It seemed to curve slightly downward as the shot travelled. The scrambler rifle user had their gun over it, (1:20) showing ~550 ehp. The killfeed says it was killed by a plasma, which was from the Logi to the right of the screen, not the aforementioned one. And as for it being AV, I think that was dev confirmed. Also noteworthy, this Plasma Cannon's hatch thing didn't appear to open, posssibly showing different variations or that the first Logi had fired shots off screen. |

Any thoughts on the swarm pistol? Lols to that thing, god help tanks if Someone is packing forgegun and swarm pistol. I forgot about those. They'll be interesting, especially with Minmatar Assault (I think) increasing sidearm ammo in the magazine. |

With all the options for AV, and 16 v 16 fights coming to PC, is anyone going to call in vehicles of any kind? It's not a "swarm pistol" It's being called a " flintlock pistol" and from the concept art appears to be more of a small clip mass driver. It is not an AV weapon. Edit: just read the latest info pulled off Sisi, apparently it is AV capable, and much like a swarm launcher it sounds. God save the tankers I guess... It should be mentioned that these "speculation" threads only serve to incite the uninformed to jump to unfounded conclusions. Let's wait until we have the facts in front of us before we debate an items OPness. My god, its flaylock, not flintlock. There is a major difference between a pistol that shoots rockets and a group of weapons that must be primed with black powder and fired by striking flint on a piece of metal. +1 |

Speculation: In my opinion, this weapon will be powerful, but not overly so. Despite its seemingly high power, it will be difficult to use at range on account of the charge and the ballistics (travel time and drop). In addition, it has a single shot magazine, requiring much greater precision in order to hit the target. Compared to swarm launchers, this need for greater precision is even more evident, as it is dumb-fire. When used in an anti-personnel role, an even greater amount of skill is needed to consistently hit targets. The charge up time also plays an effect, giving enemies time to close the distance and/or get to cover. At short range, enemies will likely be able to strafe around the shot, allowing them to kill the cannon user who is either reloading or switching weapons. As for it being used akin to a shotgun at close range, a shotgun (surprisingly) preforms much better, with a larger magazine and faster firing. If it impacts, however, a dead or nearly dead enemy is almost guaranteed.
TL;DR: This is an AV weapon that can be used as AP, neither task which it seems to excel at.
Keep in mind, I am just stating what I have observed, and am in no way calling for a nerf or buff before the community has ample time to play with this. |
