It took me a while to figure this one out and IF I am wrong, so be it.
CCP why does each grenade types explosion have the SAME explosion Animation?
As I am curious how a grenade with the splash damage of 7.2 meters looks the same exploding in thin air off the ground as one that has only a 6.0meter splash or even the M8 frag type that has only a 3.3 meter splash and I didn't even mention the 9.0 meter blast radius of the Sleek Variant. My mind seems to think there should be some differential visuals in order to understand how they work.... let alone if they are working right.
Just so we are clear, what type of explosion is it, because it is at most (rest assured) not a (7.2 meters ='s 23.622 Foot) Balloon of death, is it a cone (does it go this way > or this <)? When will the device extend in elevation the explosive effect properly and not fall thru the map slighlty?
Shall we continue to discuss, why is there no cavity thukker still when there is still the merc pack item of the Fused Contact locus grenade? |

Actually, I have had many problems with grenades.
But to clarify I have gotten 8 with one perfect grenade, and to be honest it is mostly a question of luck, having frag instead of AV when your enemy is not being camped by a cru spawn point and coming up on a group of them.
Fine, I say that they are also acting with objects in undesireable ways. I've thrown grenades at someone hiding behind a box/crate, hit them with a cooked grenade had it fall on the top of the cargo crate, distance to the enemy - mere inches away; on the edge of the lone crate (realize that it didn't fall off beccause it hit them and there was no room for it to fall off the edge of the crate)off the top of the small-ish crate to the enemy attempting to cower behind it for cover..... splash damage is supposed to be 7.2 meters .... so tell me how the enemy took no damage, not even reduced damage but NONE? He was looking over the top of the crate from a crouched position, almost perfectly head high. The next grenade thrown landed in the same place next to them, but on the ground and sent the body flying thru the air.
The same thing goes for hucking them over some walls or thru some doorways.
Then there is the angled wall surfaces that instead of bouncing off results in the grenade falling to the ground, although there are some (wall surfaces) like the velcro hills (next your going to tell me none of the hills or bumps in the game act like velcro and prevent your character from moving properly) that eat the grenade and allow them to pass inside objects.

If it goes BOOM, the opponent will either be in or outside of it and it won't matter how big the animation gets. Its not like he can see the M carved into the M8 Grenade and think OW F*CK have to RUN!!!
What does matter is if the animations ARE bigger we get worse FPS drops then what we get already, when 16 berries toss their grenades wildly at the front of the battle..
Also i doubt you are an expert on exploding grenades unless you had one go off in your face IRL. :p
Yes, it really does matter IF the INFORMATION CCP says about the grenades is incorrect and is unwilling to answer this relatively simple question. I spent the 1.2 million SP and the 18,000 isk per grenade, that I haven't gotten as salvage.
Hrmm, do I think it is the amount of grenade animations going off at one time or the perchant of most corps to pull out 5 tanks for the fishbowl ambush (non-oms) that creates the lag, and IF the Locus Grenades type are to blame then so be it.... I guess I'll just use precision strikes and have my entire team load out with mass drivers.
If you are experiencing that much framerate drop it probably has something to do with the daily optimization of the server and how long after that you are playing versus the number of people playing that day, add in a smidge of squads being pooled together from around the world, not to mention doing any sort of restocking of suits while in a match, the audio drop out, the idiot in your local on a 5 pages long rant, how many blank emails the other dweebs fire off at you; divided by the last time you reset your ps3.
