If I had to choose which Dev response I would want, the one from the guys at Trion is vastly superiour to the treatment CCP gives us. If you want to pay money for an unfinished FREE game, then its your fault. |

Lol wow, you're quite hostile. They don't owe you anything, they don't have some grand failure to apologize and make up for like Trion does; even if Dust is a crappy game by launch, it is still free, and spending money is voluntary. Unless they sell you a defective product, they don't have to apologize for anything, or give you any special gifts. The game is completely free, how is that for a developer/consumer relationship? |

You are correct, they don't owe me anything. However, what they want is my money. Trion, if I had any interest in their game, would be doing a better job of convincing me to invest in the long term with those types of actions. Pointing out that the game is free to play doesn't change the fact that it is a business venture, and Trion is handling dealing with their customers better. As with any MMO, FPS or otherwise, how you deal with your customers is a huge part of the project. I am starting to think that there are too many CCP fan boys around for them to be a really good developer. They don't get enough constructive feedback because of brown nosers yelling everyone down.
Me and many others got a bunch of skinweave BPOs, and bunch of other cool special edition stuff from CCP for free. How is Trion handling their customers better? They both give free stuff, but CCP didn't make you endure a terrible bug-filled launch (yet). |

Why are you so focused on stuff? I don't care about items, and given the manner in which CCP gives out crap, I wouldn't be able to use or trade them anyway. My point was that Trion was being more clear in their communication regarding an issue, and more forthright in their communications with the playerbase. Both of those issues were brought up in the letter from the CEO from 2011. So, once again, this is not about the stuff, but rather the manner in which the whole thing was conducted.
I wrote that before you pointed out that your issue was with communication. Guess you didn't see the edit, so I'll paste it here.
If you don't think CCP communicates, you're clearly mistaken. They post weekly responses to feedback/requests in dedicated threads, and they do it also for bugs. They frequently stop by in the public Dust514 IRC channel to talk to players, and discuss future changes. If Trion's example of communicating when things are desperate is the standard for good dev communication, then that is a very low standard; one that CCP already surpassed since things don't have to go horribly wrong to get answers. Oh, and there are also devblogs they release to explain features that are coming, and corresponding Q&A threads about the features where they answer your question. If you think CCP doesn't communicate well with its consumers, you must not be looking very hard.
Also post 15 has nothing to do with refunds. You brought up the fact that both games are taking money, and I was explaining why that argument is crap.
If you're so blind that you don't notice all the ways CCP communicates with us, then this is pointless. I'm done. Cry some more about a nonexistent communication issue. |
