Hello Everyone, this is not a suggestion to change the laser rifle, it is fine in my eyes... BUT!! a laser is focusing light with lenses into a beam that fires off. So how exactly is there an ammo limit for a laser rifle. I don't understand how you can put a limit as to how much light you can focus. Again this is not a request for change, this is a request for knowledge, either from you, the community or from official CCP guys. Enjoy |

Real life chemical lasers use chemicals as fuel, hence the need for "ammo". Real life solid state lasers use electricity to lase, hence the need for "ammo".
You couldn't work this out yourself? Did you think lasers would just shoot forever, putting out energy but never consuming it? |

Energy cel packs for the microfusion cores that power most amarrian tech, The suit's own micro-reactor only has enough power to keep your own nanite reactor and shields going and powering the super computer you have calcualting shield and armor harmonics as well as weapon's resonance.
Amarr weaponry is closer to free electron laser beams instead of the crystal stripping catalyst methoods currently used in compact laser weapons found today. Lenses if ever added only provided a tuning frequency like adjusting the focus of the beam. The beam is also a multi-beamer with a singular focal point in a set distance before or beyond makes it very ineffective but the energy output is amazingly high enough to turn the air into a high energized state able to be seen on the visible spectrum. |

Why do you figure all the rifles have 100 no matter the meta level? |

The ammo amount is just a placeholder to give the user an idea on how much energy is left on the clip. Amarrian ships in Eve Online still rely heavily on capacitor levels to keep shooting. No capacitor, no shots fired. |

I was sure this was going to be a nerf lasers thread when in reality you could put the power of the entire universe behind a laser, in theory you could attach a thermal nuclear reactor to a photon laser like we use today to knock missiles out of the sky and use it to crack a planet in half |

alright here we go... laser are an acronym Light Amplifiction by Stimulated Emmision of Radiation. basically these are a special wavelengeth of light coming from one of the laser diodes green 532nm, red 650nm, blue 435nm etc. these laser are from what i can tell several different colors making them seem white i am imagining violet, green and red making them seem white and at least on part is absorbed if not more from each type of armor making it extremely effective against anything of any color
and there is also a pinnacle where they all intercept and that is where there is a strong amount of a pinnacle point where they all intercept
also it is a battery cell which would be extremely power consuming.
also if it overheated the laser rifle would basically just die... the laser rifle would stop functioning if it got hot enough to turn the heat sink red hot...
but this is my advanced knowledge of realistic lasers... |

You guys are all trolls. The OP is merely remarking that "Green" energy should be a priority of the future. We are facing a crisis in New Eden, galaxy warming. If we don't stop wasting charge packs on lazers then we will wreck the precious stability of the enviroment and it will result in galaxy climate change. We must work together now to begin shaping our future. Remember people, its not for yourself, but for your children and your childrens children, and their clones to.
Please make all checks and money orders payable to the Daedric Lothar Stop Galaxy Warming Fund. |

I could see it also if lasers had a single power supply, but that they take time to recharge before the laser can be fired again. What do you think? |

ya that is actually a really good idea. That could make the laser rifle, or maybe some new beam weapon very unique. Like a solar, and wind powered beam gun. Even better, it would be powered by the heat that it produces off itself (see troll logic). But ya recharge time is needed for that to work |
