To answer your question me and general tiberius(who is currently being held captive by CCP and is expected to return SOONTM,AKA he got banned for a month) derailed a thread and over the course of the easter weekend when the devs were away. We basically had a ten page thread which consisted of half a page of on topic discussion, 3 pages of random discussion and 6 1/2 pages talking about bacon and sandwiches and various other bacon stuff, this thread then came to the attention of of sota and various other forum dwellers and well, what I like to call "The night of the Bacon" happened.

It got spammed everywhere, every single thread in the first page of GD had bacon in it, the same with the top half of page 1 here, it got spammed or made an appearance in every forum section. General tiberius even made threads in techinical and feedback about bacon(hence why he was banned). Chribba has a thread somewhere in GD which shows a count of how many posts contained the word bacon, it literally goes from 30 posts 1 day, to nearly 400 the next.

It even made an appearance in the IRC channel, which was rather amusing(and confusing for one of the devs when he stuck his head in). It was basically a night where no serious discussion took place in these forums and is now apparently the reply to any nonsense or stupid posts.
