Piercing Serenity wrote:Hey everyone,
I've been here for almost a year now, and I've seen my fair share of annoyances. I've been crushed by dropships, blown up by RE's and missiles alike. I've gone through the invalid fitting glitch more times than I'd like to remember. I came to these forums every day, watching people systematically break down why they thought CCP was inept, or list all of the ways DUST would fail. It was disheartening, but it was so prevalent that I couldn't help but reading thread after negative thread.
However, there were people amidst this chaos who were (and continue to be) dedicated to seeing DUST reach its full potential. I want to give these guys the praise I think they're due.
To Iron Wolf Saber:
Thank you for all of your hard work both in irc chat with the devs, as well as your dedication to giving the DUST-EVE lore some real weight. I rely on you for my info whenever we have a game wide event. You help me wade through this monstrously in-depth lore and feel just a little more knowledgeable. I want to thank you for all of your hard work, and hope that keep up what you're doing. It's great!
To Garrett Blacknova:
I don't think I can thank you enough for all of the work you go through and ridiculousness you read to foster more open minds for the growth of DUST. There are a lot of people who have far less patience that you - myself included - when it comes to DUST. Build fatigue gets worse every day, and hundreds upon hundreds of less knowledgeable players put a lot of misinformation into the forums. In my eyes, you've taken it upon yourself to do the nitty gritty. You data-mine, think critically, and use irc chat liberally. And it all pays off. I usually scan posts by name instead of topic. I look for someone who I know to be a critical thinker who uses their words well, and can admit when they're wrong. I appreciate your level-headedness, and take your comments more seriously because I feel that you have carefully considered your ideas before posting them.
To Cross Atu:
I have yet to meet someone who has more detailed, well structured, and courteous posts in my year of playing. I have yet to read a post you've written that I didn't read all the way through, and that I felt personally offended by. You're ideas are always sound and your reasoning is always backed. I really appreciate all of the effort you put into your posts. You've mentioned that you have both insomnia and dyslexia, yet you are more articulate than almost every other player here. I think that there are more people like me than you know. Please keep doing what you're doing. i love it.
To Noc Tempre, Cyn Bruin, and the other posting members of Imperfects and Internal Error:
Thank you for the reality checks that this community desperately needs from time to time. Your corp(s) have been under the scrutiny of the community since you became DUST's most infamous corp. Some of the criticism has been more harsh than others, yet you (mostly) let it roll off of your back. More importantly, however, you haven't let these comments change your critical nature, nor have you them them make you soft when it comes to getting the answers that we'd all like. Thank you guys
To Dust University, Bojo's School of the Trades, and The Dollars:
Thank you for your altruism. This is the reason I always want to (but never stick to) the helpful role when it comes to video games. I started E3 as a logi bro, I used to go back to low level areas in WoW as a lvl 40, and donate just because i can. But its a lonely world as an altruist. I felt so ineffective as a logi bro, so I just dropped it and pick up something else. I'm glad that you guys are out there, and you are truly committed to easing the learning curve for the newer guys to dust. So long as it doesn't conflict with the interests of PFBHz, I'd love to help you guys establish a little niche for yourself and help out the little guys.
These are my main, community wide thanks. However, i also have one more personal shout outs I'd like to give.
To Empty Souls, Crimson Moon V, Axl Striener, HowDidThatTaste, Knarf Black, and DJINN Destroyer:
Thanks for the great 1v1s! These are just a few of the people who have made my year in DUST really fun. DUST is my first FPS (It was a lot of Uncharted and Mass Effect before this), so I'm not nearly as good as some of the guys I've played with an against. But stacking up against these guys has given me goals to reach and pass, and I wanted to thank them for that.
Finally, to CCP:
Thanks for all of your hard work in developing this game into what we will see on May 6th. I posted a similar thread as Codex was first unveiled, and my feelings remain the same. Creating a game with hundreds of thousands of people demanding something different, or something untenable. Thanks for the vastly improved dev communication, community involvement, and over all good attitude you have for this game.
Before I close, I'd just like to say that this post is genuine. I'm not trying to suck up, earn brownie points, or farm likes. I think that these guys really deserved some credit for the work they've done. Thanks again to every one on this list, and the many people who make meaningful contributions to this game that I didn't mention.
