I have never played an FPS before, so this is really difficult to learn.
The problem I am having, is I have no clue about anything. Literally no clue.
So when I get thrown into a game with people way more skilled and that have more stats because of skill points than me, I just get destroyed over and over and over. I have a death count of about 50 and a kill rate of 1. Literally.
My problem is my aiming mostly because when I get into 1v1 fights, I can't even touch the opponent and by the time I even try to get a shot off, I am dead.
With the lack of training zones and target practice, I am lost and I feel really bad for my team too because all I do is let them down.
Please note this is not a QQ thread. I believe Dust 514 is awesome, but my main concern is for new players like me who have come from long term EvE Online and how it is really difficult to get into.
What is the best way to practice?
Please don't give me the play more answer, because that will not work unless I know what I am looking for in my mistakes.
Any constructive help would be amazing and thanks in advance if you read my post. Best way to practice for you, imo would be to start as a logi (artificer), and stick with the biggest clump of blues you can find (preferably a heavy in the clum[), and keep repair tools and nanite injectors are your main equipment to worry about. This way, you can take things slowly- you don't have to worry about shooting so much just yet, but instead get used to the controls and learn how to use cover effectively.
When you feel comfortable about being able to support your teammates by repairing and reviving in the midst of combat, start worrying about your shooting more. When you do start shooting, I suggest either starting with an assault rifle or shotgun (because they're easy to use), or a mass driver (the logi weapon of choice- despite the blast radius, it's arguably the hardest weapon for most players to use; this is because it has a completely different feel to it. I always think that if you start with the most complex weapon, everything will seem easy after that.) To get back to the point- the best situation to start worrying about using your weapon is when you feel that your team has the advantage, and is about to stomp the enemy anyway. Use the momentum for your advantage.
That, or take the road less traveled and become an LAV driver/dropship pilot. |
