The Gallente Burner Cannon combines technologies from starship propulsion and applies them to similarly designed forge guns.
They are equipped to heavy dropsuits as a multi-range weapon with a unique tactical application and techniques. They are operated much like a laser rifle in reverse. The damage 'flare' of the burner cannon extends a thermal wave out to approximately 100m, but unless the heavy suit user is crouched and stationary accuracy will be dramatically affected as the flare, if continued, effectively becomes a propulsive exhaust accelerating the user backwards until the fuel chamber empties or the cannon overheats.
If crouched and stabilized the heavy suit user can aim the cannon's exhaust toward enemies with slightly decreasing damage effectiveness. Because the wave is mostly a kinetic and thermal blast, users and targets will not experience a splash effect, but the shape of the wave will be sufficiently large enough so resemble a shotgun sized spread at 100 m. The percussive wave also has a significant knockback effect on targets, causing disruptive movement, especially when 'sweeped' across targets for the 2.5-3 seconds that fuel cells allow for.
A secondary effect of these cannons lets heavy users propel themselves by jumping significantly long distances (10-25m). If used improperly they could even kill the user by accelerating their suit to deadly speeds.
TL;DR: Reverse of damage buildup from laser rifle+sweeping ability- range+heavy requirement+stationary requirement+knockback on target. |

Plasma cannon is a light from what I here. Could be wrong but I'd bet that it is a light weapon. |
