'Its amazing what exploits players come up with when they learn the mechanics in a title. One of the interesting player work-arounds that we have seen in Dust 514 is the AFK MCC Behavior, while fleeing from games that are going badly is a time-honored tradition in most shooters, we see it at an especially high rate in Dust because of the persistence of finite gear.
The thing to remember in these situations is that mercs are accepting contracts for hire in these instances but are essentially going AWOL and Deserting after agreeing to fight for the contract holder. From a lore point of view this has to be resolved. Gameplay has to provide a deterrent for people who try to exploit gameplay mechanics by leaving battles to avoid the loss of assets. It must also address those mercs who accept employment, then refuse to deploy for battle but attempt to reap the rewards afterwards.'

Personally, I've taken to applying the deterrent of standing beside them with a live grenade in my hand. Since I like to play a dedicated medic, KDR means nothing to me. |

Lol at thinking this will affect anything contract wise in PC once the game goes live. People want resutls, not histories. If someone is really good then they will be picked up by a corp if they have 0 AWOL or 500 AWOL. I might choose the 500 AWOL because I know he has more skill points.
We will need to wait to see what the Devs implement and how long it takes for the AFKers to either bypass it or get interested in the game. |

Whether I agree or not upon the moral implications of loitering about somewhere in a battle zone is irrelevant.
I concur with one of the posts above...let us not dictate to one another how or why we conduct ourselves Let us instead make our decisions about who we hire, ally with, fight for or against based on the most Isk efficient and profitable characteristics and statistics we can find.

You know standing around in the MCC bothered me for a while, but frankly there are times now when not only don't I care, but feel that I'm the stupid one for even trying to fight.
Lets face it, most pub matches are a curb stomp one way or the other now. If you're not in a corp, casual, or not up to pro suits there are very, very, few "gud fights" lately. Sure, when it is close, when there is a chance for either team, MCC bunnies really annoy me. But most fights are just pointless after the first few minutes anyway. What is someone's obligation to be cannon fodder for the other team? What is someone's obligation to pad your stats? If you're emptying a clip into someone and they turn around and two shot you and their whole team is built like that, yea standing in the MCC makes a lot of sense!
I joined a battle today relatively early where all the objectives where taken, the ground spawn point was surrounded and taking bombardments and the MCC drop zone was littered with enemy space jeeps running you over the second you landed. I just could't get mad anymore at everyone standing in the MCC. I feel I ended up being the idiot losing mid level suits (until I spec'd down to militia gear which only makes matter worse) and not making any isk. Sure, I just can't bring myself to do it though. When a fight goes that bad now I just grab a space jeep and drive around like an insane idiot having fun, but really don't blame them anymore.
Also I do like the OP's idea a lot. |

GO ahead and add my name to the list. I enjoy AFKing when I get home from work while I play with my kids. Once they go to bed I usually hop on and actually play some of the games but until then I enjoy my extra points.
As I have said I dislike the fact that we have the ability to AFK and have suggested a solution but until this change is made or the game becomes more interesting I will continue to AFK farm SP. |

Agree with this. Would love a way to track quitters and AWOL guys...
I won't judge anyone's actions, but I will judge your ability to turn into a b@tch when the going gets tough. Dependability is job #1 in my book.
When we can put out contracts I want someone who puts the job first, not some guy who's only loyalty is to his KDR and will turn tail at the first sign of losing some good equipment. |

It's not an exploit when it works as is intended. 5 sp a second...if I'm not mistaken. What's the exploit? Standing around waiting to get your SP?
Playing the game gets you MARGINALLY more SP, and even that, just means you reach your skill cap faster. People who AFK are people that want to keep their SP, and lose it due to not playing. If / when CCP puts in an SP pool, you'll see allot les AFK people.
Obviously that means taking off the SP per second mechanic they have....which funny enough, people warned CCP about. Allot of the AFK people warned CPP it was going to happen. Catering to noobs, is one thing, but rewarding them as much as people who actually play? Just wow.
What's even funnier is all these forum dragon born warriors talking about pub games and how much 1 AFK player affects the experience...? Really?... ok then. Also they like to say AFK people are piggybacking off the success of the team...no. These same people QQ'ing about AFK'ers are on their high horses about "Welcome to new eden *****! lololol HTFU!"... yet you're on the forum crying about people who were AFK in a pub game?
How about you guys HTFU, and instead of crying about 1 guy being AFK in a pub, how about you pick up the slack? No? Then stand by them with a grenade in your hand and try to TK him cuz that's the answer to your problem.

If you're not hitting your SP cap for the week, you lose that SP...meaning you fall behind everyone who did hit their cap.
I'm a heavy with 1000+ Hp... I've seen many people try to kill me, never worked for them. A heavy holding a nade does nothing btw... worth a good laugh seeing someone try it on me though. |

Once upon a time, I was in a battle, where matchmaking was clearly horrible- my team had NO PREMADE SQUADS AT ALL, while the other had at least 2 (judging by corps) For a while, my team was actually far exceeding expectations in the battle. One of the main reasons for this was that I, along with some other random person (let's call her randomafker) were kept placing uplinks in extremely useful locations, and they were being used heavily by our entire team. About halfway through the battle, it was still rough for us, but our MCC was in about the same shape as the enemy one. Then, everything suddenly took a turn for the worse (We were barely clinging on to our last NULL cannon, only because my team kept harassing them from my uplink- I know it was mine because of the tons of WPs I was getting). I wondered where randomafker had gone, until I spawned in the MCC, and saw her standing in the corner with 2 uplinks next to her. Because of that, our last hope for victory had left.
I don't know why she went AFK halfway through the battle- something must have come up. Regardless, I don't understand why she had to purposely cause all of her existing uplinks to despawn.
Also brings to mind an incident when some people threw down uplinks on top of the MCC, and literally at least half of my team decided to start redline sniping from up there. |

I would find it highly amusing, with all this talk of tracking players that AFK on the MMC, and all the different corps already set up, if CCP do a SP wipe with the next update on the 6th. So far, if it wasn't for the Human Endurance Tournament, I don't think I'd be playing anymore. |

There is a new build coming soon. This game is getting better and better as time goes along. And I-Śm pretty sure CCP will do anything in they-Śre power to make this game as good as they possibly can.
We are still playing a demo and dealing with the faults that come with it. |
