CCP, maybe foolishly, worded the Merc Pack description in such a way that it implies there will be refund at commercial release. CCP also stated there will be no more character wipes.
If you bought Merc Packs/AUR and used the AUR to buy boosters to increase your SP, you've already benefited from it. If there is no SP wipe, yet you get AUR refund, you are getting double the benefit for free.
CCP cannot please you without doing a character wipe CCP cannot please everyone else if they do another character wipe because of you.
Do you really think you have CCP's arm bent behind their backs? Really? You think you found a legal loophole and want to exploit it? Really?
All CCP has to do is to never release a "commercial release" and remain in Beta. They will still get AUR purchases, so they still get paid. Yet we are now living in constant state of flux as "Beta" means CCP can change something with no warning at any time. Having the game in "Beta" does not benefit us players. It makes no difference to CCP.
I work in software development. During my time alone, the company released 3 facebook games all in "Beta". It is now 2 years after the release of the first game, and that project is sun-setting (closing down). And guess what: it is still in Beta. And yes, all legal agreements says we, developers/publisher, can do whatever, including unannounced changes and wipe, while it is in Beta. And guess what again: we had used it, for our benefit at the expense of players. And to top it all off, we don't refund real-money trades when we change something and make a previously desired premium item obsolete. You think our company is alone in this? Far from it, everyone including Zynga do that.

If I was CCP I'd take note of every single person requesting an Aurum refund. Upon commercial release I would give back their AUR and reset all their skill points back to 0. I would do this of course without telling the community because honestly they don't deserve the courtesy. Self entitled whiny prats will reap what they sow and the rage will flow. I'll be laughing all the while.

I can't believe this is still going on when there was a completely clear forum post saying that was the last reset and AUR would not be refunded after that point.
If you want your AUR back, you'll also need to go through a full reset to make up for the boosters and Proto suits you used. So. ant an AUR reset? Be prepared to give up all your SP from boosters.
These people don't give 2 **** about the wording, all they want are double the AUR things. |

If they were to set sp to 0 then people would demand they reset the whole game which no one wants. Honestly they could try and just remove the SP that was given from a booster if they wanted.
In any case unlike the idiots on Facebook (most of which don't know what a beta is mind you) most gamers equate a beta to a unfinished game, usually of crappy quality, so the majority won't touch it as long as it keeps the "beta" tag so it could actually do harm to CCPs earnings.
That and many people won't spend money on a beta.
Also: as a side note last week I emailed Sony about it to see what they would do of the situation, have to wait a few days to hear back (we've been emailing back and forth) and they submitted me for a refund (despite that I said I didn't want one I just wanted to know if I was getting my items back later or not)
Guess ill know in a few days and ill post my findings here. |

Seriously people. This discussion is over for many reasons.
1. CCP confirmed there will be no more character resets. They will allow a character respec come May 6, but that is only because they changed a lot of things with the skill tree. Forget about you hypothetical scenarios on what CCP will do otherwise because that 'otherwise' will never come.
2. The merc pack specifically said (before CCP changed it) that the buyer will get the merc pack refunded during every reset and upon commercial release. Notice that commercial release didn't specifically mention if a reset will happen on that day of commercial release. So CCP already honored the reset portion of the agreement. All that's left is the commercial release portion.
3. CCP also confirmed that we are technically NOT in commercial release.
4. CCP has also stated not too long ago that they will post a dev blog of sorts to let us know what they will do regarding the situation with the merc pack refunding. That said, I suggest everyone here to just shut up and wait for that dev blog to see what CCP plans to do in this case.
5. For god's sake, respect the dead. That horse has been beaten so much that all of us here have not only beaten what little meat was left but also grind the bones to DUST. |
