In the interest of seeing the game develop, has anyone heard anything about this? As in, will there be the opportunity to be in the war barge (NOT MCC) between battles, instead of hiding alone in the Merc Quarters? Just wondering, as other MMO's have a similar system, as in a "guild HQ". Customisation would also be fun.
It can also lead to a few meta-game "features" which could be really interesting.
Just in case people don't know the difference, the war barge is where things are deployed from - they normally orbit the planet, and have MCCs, HAVs, DS's, etc in them. The war barge is where you are before the match starts, where there's the holo map and the player lists.
If the corp has to buy war barges and pilot them to a system where they want to fight (fairly realistic), that means that the war barge has to have the players who want to fight on them before leaving the rest of the "fleet". Let's say that corp A wants to assault corp B's planets. It would have to physically send a war barge across to corp B's system, loaded with HAV's, DS's, LAV's, equipment etc, into orbit around the planet it would want to assault. Last I heard, war barges won't be able to be blown up by pilots in EVE.
It would cause some degree of meta game escalation. I send a war barge with infantry equipment, militia vehicles, nothing too expensive. I lose it all for next to no loss on your end, so I pack it with more advanced gear, such as a gunnlogi and proto weapons, or I could send two war barges and have them both assault a district each, at the same time.
Just a thought that occurred to me. It'd expand the meta-game into more strategic areas, a little bit like EVE. |

Vyzion, a similar argument to that could be made with regards to ships in EVE... Why not just buy the nanites and have a constant stream of ships going out, instead of mining? Anyway. Would render a lot of the player-driven market obsolete.
I'm not saying make it "invincible", just impossible to target from EVE. Might still have the option to blow it up from ground installations (e.g. what we saw in one of the trailers, where a moros got blown up), but not by EVE ships.
Or could have it to be a ship (since it'll be PC, in 0.0), require a carrier to "release" near a planet? This will require EVE players and DUST players to work together. Obviously by this advanced stage of development where we might even see these things, DUST players will be able to sell things to EVE players that can only be made on the planet surface. And EVE players will need planet districts to hold full sov. Or something. |
