All the factions seem to be getting their own version of the assault rifle, some kind of general purpose rifle; the Gallente obviously have the assault rifle, the Caldari are getting the gauss rifle, and the Amarr are getting the scrambler rifle. For the sake of symmetry, the Minmatar should get something as well. So I propose the Minmatar storm rifle.
Important part Attributes Initial rate of fire: 1500 RPM (25 rounds per second) damage: 14 (350 damage per second) Magazine: 120 rounds (8 seconds of continuous fire. To compare, the assault rifle has about 5 seconds) Accuracy: extremely low, very high bullet spread.
The storm rifle's damage per second is comparable to, but ultimately lower to the assault rifle's (which is 387.5). The main advantage of the the storm rifle is its magazine size (allowing for 3 more seconds of continuous fire compared to the AR), but it trades way accuracy and precision for that advantage. Why the insane fire rate? Insane fire rate weapons are really really fun to use; Dust 514 needs more guns with insane ROF.
Now about the other details Sound: I envision the sound to me very metallic and deep. Because the fire rate is so high, the individual sounds of bullet all blend into one. Here are some examples of sounds that fit: a jackhammer, and Killzone 3's minigun.
Gun model: A very Minmatar-looking assault rifle obviously, but I have some requests regarding the magazine placement. I noticed that most guns in Dust don't seem to have much variety in their magazine placement, it would be nice to have some bullpup designs (magazine in the back), or even have the magazine under and parallel to the barrel like the Russian bizon SMG; It would really make the weapon selection of Dust look more diverse. Here are some images of weapon models which I think exemplify how the storm rifle could look awesome. This, and this. Could be usedul as inspiration. |

So you basically want a slightly nerfed HMG in the light weapon slot.
sounds interesting |

Sort of, but the ROF is actually higher than the HMG. |

just a thought, what if it retained the same relative accuracy as comparable ARs, but had an extremely high kick, what this does is allow a skilled gunner to fire in very short bursts putting effective rounds downrange with the other ARs, but if the trigger is held, all accuracy then goes to hell. another cool feature may be that it starts with a slower ROF, and speeds up as the trigger is held |

How about making it look like a semi-futuristic AK-47? Nice idea though, MORE DAKKA is always better. |

Something like this with a magazine would be cool. Something brown, big, and clunky, but with a bit of scifi flare like the mass driver's appearance. |

Don't worry, we'll eventually see an enormous variety of weapons in this game. From bullet shooters to dumb-fire AT missiles to who knows what else.
The EVE universe is too massive to have a single type of assault rifle (a duvolle-made plasma rifle) in DUST. Just like how there are many variants of, say, the M16 rifle, all the assault rifles in DUST currently are 'variants' of the duvolle labs G75-VBL plasma rifle, the standard-issue rifle of the Gallente military. It's likely that in the future, some of these may even be reskinned into completely different plasma rifles made by different companies (Roden, for example, wouldn't just modify a DuVolle weapon, they would make their own). Hell, Kaalakiota likely makes plasma rifles, and the Amarr use lots of plasma-based weapons too. Who knows how many different types and styles of plasma rifles we'll see in the future.
That's just plasma rifles though. We've already seen footage of a gallente-made bullet shooter in several DUST trailers(the one with the underbarrel grenade launcher), and the Minmatar love to litter the battlefield with shell casings. Even beyond those, who's to say that some Caldari corporations don't make traditional slug-throwers for export?
The point is, if the Devs plan to increase immersion, and I don't see why they wouldn't, we might see different styles of weapons from all over New Eden. Different manufacturers selling their version of a weapon, with its own advantages and disadvantages. |

I can get behind this. How is its hip fire compared to ADS? The breach weapons tend to have greater hip fire accuracy along with low RPMs, so conversely, a high RPM weapon might have severely reduced hip fire capabilities? |

Hipfire should definitely still be usable, one thing I hate about most shooters but love in Dust is the hipfire; I love being able to hipfire. For the storm rifle, while still usable, it should lose its usefulness past 30 meters, and require aiming down sight. |

This weapon ( click here) pretty much exemplify what the storm rifle's recoil and accuracy should be like.

+1 to the general concept (I'm not comment on the specific numbers as that's more for CCP to polish/tweak for balance with all other weapons and roles in game, and besides I'm tired so I'm not going to pull up the market and cross check things ).
Anyway the concept sounds great
