This would be a weapon similar to the rep tool, except working as the opposite. Instead of repairing armor, it destroys it. It would primarily be a close range AV weapon, but could be used in CQC anti-infantry combat. |

An acid gun?
There is acid in DUST already. On some maps there are pools below ground level, containing some kind of corrosive liquit. I once took a swim in it. Was dead in 10 secs. It was barely waist deep...
Or maybe pebble gun? You know, loaded with the killer pebbles found on hillsides. When you try to climb those pebbles hurt your knees and twist your ankles damaging armor...

When I read the title I was think of a Nanite Injector that you can shoot. Wouldn't it be good to revive people from a distance? |

Like using the repair tool in Battlefield, that destroys enemy vehicles. Maybe this idea is better as an alt fire to the repair tool?
I like the idea of a rifle that disintegrates armour though, like the nano rifle from Red Faction: Geurilla or Armageddon. Would do very little initial damage but would DoT for at least a few seconds. If it got into armour then the target is in for a bad day! |

Well, I like using a weapon for that. Exile AR, GEK or just the plain old reliable HMG. If your preference is melting armor than a laser does it better than you describe and it is already in the game. No additional Dev time needed.
Of course losing your Light Weapon slot to a large Nanite injector would be funny. Probably get you killed just as fast as Nova Knives. You might get kills just by Reds falling over laughing as you come rushing forward with Mr. Pointy. |

+1 Could have 25% more range then the regular rep tool. Act like a high damage laser but only up-close. I like :D |

Giving the rep tool the ability to disentegrate armor? Not a bad idea.
I think it would only be balanced in one of the following scenarios:
1. Rep tool can only tear down armor if enemy's shields are down. (vs. Infantry AND vehicle) 2. Rep tool can tear down vehicle armor ONLY, even with shields up. (A nod to players that like to jump on top enemy tanks. Be funny to hear tankers screaming, "GET HIM OFF ME!!!!")
The offensive range would have to be HALF of the repair range. If it's a hand weapon with unlimited ammo, that's OP. You can't make a sword out of a scalpel. Cut the range. |
