As stated " Simply what is the average two farthest point on a skirmish map, sniper needs to know " . The reason I ask, is of course due to the light weapon sharpshooter proficiency skill in regards to sniper rifles. I am trying to figure out how important it is to train that skill up early on...
I know other factors are involved, such as the ability to spot the enemy, but I tend to manage. Most snipers are pretty predictable
If anyone can help me with this question, I would appreciate it |

Just as a Heads up...With the Ishukone Sniper rifle and my current skill set. I was killing Reds from a distance close to 800km |

OMG, I did say "800KM" !!! I must of been watching a thing on North Korean Missiles at the time .
Thank You, 0 Try Harder and others.. Yep I commonly hit out between the 700-800m range. Provided there is adequate forward recon.
I have the Light weapon sharpshooter proficiency skill at level 3 now. The reason I asked map size was for the reason of where to invest my skill points next. Should I max out the specialization skill, or head to Assault Drop suit Level 5.
Regardless of the team I am on... I want to make certain my first priority is always to the side I am fighting for. So I try to base my skill tree on that dogma.
I really do appreciate the advice from the threads |

OMG, and yes you suck...
I did not realize that about the kill payout value, in regards to the items a victim carries.
On close skirmish maps, with still being low on the CPU modifications for the individual items, when carrying the Ishukone it is a trade of for defence, and or side arm. For range skirmish I find it better to be able to handle a few glancing blows. For short range, it would of been a better defence to have a decent sidearm. (Which I did not ). But it was only you that exploited that, 3 separate times... Then I said screw it, and change position past the enemy forward lines and took my frustration out killing spawners. (sorry )
But you are without a doubt correct....Being stubborn in position, does not exactly raise your opportunity for survival.
But I had a lot of fun, and look forward to trying again.. |

Yah, I was surprised you didn't move up sooner, but then I was like well more isk for me! I thought you would have gone up to objective E and climbed the ladder up onto the pipes there. Obj. C is risky, but might have also been alright. We controlled the CRU by objective A, so it would have been a bad idea to go up those pipes for most of the game.
A meatshield of easy-to-kill blue dots is usually useful if you're sniping. If you're alone, you're pretty much undefended, especially if you have someone in a free suit who does not care about red-line suicides.
Alright did a new fit for that Just for that really small skirmish map.. Almost better to use a 118m range Assault Rifle than a Sniper Rifle. Which I shall train up next.... Until then using a standard Tactical sniper rifle, added extra light damage mods , with a decent sidearm, greatly boosted armored defense , and a couple of grenades. (Obviously Assault Suit)
Curious to see how that goes, on the can't run, can't hide maps |
