There are no original thoughts. Reddit does however love to endlessly discuss the thoughts of others. And cats. A lot of cats for some reason.
Seriously though, most of what makes reddit great is the discussion that happens in the smaller subreddits.

You seem to have a basic lack of understanding of how reddit works. Not a big deal, but when your premise is wrong your conclusions will be wrong as well. The majority of the site is small subreddits. There are only a few really large default subs, and they are huge and crappy because they are where the throwaway content gets tossed up.
You don't judge a city based on how nice it's WalMarts are, and you shouldn't judge reddit based on the content of the default subs.

The only people on reddit who give a **** about trollface comics are the people who frequent the few subreddits that have trollface comics.

but you don't. reddit is one of the lower rungs of the human centipede of internet culture, 4chan being at the top.
It's not a contest you twerp. Reddit doesn't get a lot of "good" rage comics and memes, because most redditors don't give a **** about rage comics or memes. The ones that do show up do so in specific subreddits that are frequented by 4chan rejects.
Furthermore, you can't "steal" conversations. Reddit points people to content and then discusses it. It doesn't pretend like drawing an MS Paint picture of a can of soup and writing "******" across the top is some sort of "original content".
Again, the problem with 4chan is all the 4channers like yourself who thinks that their little ciriclejerk is some sort of revolutionary concept.
Reddit isn't revolutionary, it's not amazing, and it isn't creating tons of great content. Neither is 4chan, or SA, or nearly any other website. Reddit just makes it easy to find relevant articles and discussions about topics you are interested in. That's all. When you get older you'll probably realize that 4chan is mostly highschool kids making fart jokes, and reddit is mostly 30 somethings making fart jokes. It's not a rivalry worth caring about. |
