CCP has been saying that DUST will be able to shoot back at EVE players. I think it could fit into a game mode. Imagine this. Some districts will come with large anti-space installations(or AS for short). Once a space battle is detected overhead, the guns begin to charge. There will be three tiers of AS guns. Batteries of smaller blaster turrets that fire in volleys, can attack multiple targets, take 5 min to charge, and deal a small amount of damage per volley. There will be installations of 2 rocket turrets that launch 4 rockets each and can attack 2 targets and take 7 min to charge. Then, there is the mother of all AS turrets, a huge railgun installation the size of a battlecruiser, which fires one shot at one target but deals massive damage and takes 10 mins to charge. Once they begin to charge, a corp can choose to try and shut down the installation to keep it from firing. This can be from a contract from one of the factions fighting in space or of their own accord(for instance, if they are allied with the pilots about to be fired upon). The attackers will have to fight their way into the control room where they must hack the central mainframe. Since the hack will take about 1 minute without skills, the console it not automatically unhacked, but can be slowly unchacked by defenders. If the guns are fully charged, the match is over and the ceo or whoever the ceo pick as next in command is able to select targets for the weapon and fire. Just saw a few possible bugs to this please add to this but don't rage, this can and will be edited |

I'm sure that will eventually be an objective.
To be honest, it just seems like a large-scale version of the current skirmishes to me. |

To be honest, it just seems like a large-scale version of the current skirmishes to me. But it's only one sided, with one objective. Also, instead of waiting for the MCC to be destroyed, hacking the objective is an insta win. |

Face it, we going to have a way to shoot back one way or another, and I can't see CCP putting turrets in regular Ambush matches and expecting players to watch the skies the entire game. This is the only idea i've seen regarding this issue, and to me, it seems very feasible. If you have a problem with it, tell me, don't just say no. |

I like this idea, but I also don't like it. In Dust it takes me like 1 minute to refit after I die. In EVE it takes me like a couple hours to refit when I die. And then I gotta hope what I want is in stock or to Jita I go (Flying from Null to Jita and back is a pain, I try to keep it like once every couple weeks).
Firing at ships is cool, but its also a pain, how would you do it? If a ship enters the system the Dust mercs are allowed to spawn on a map, run to the gun and start firing? What if the ship cloaks or just warps out.
I could see this in siege warfare, someone sieges your POS and you load up and start firing the guns at Titans, Supers and Dreads, but then the enemy can land kill your Dusties and start firing the cannon at your POS. |

It's not that no one wants to be able to shoot at EVE ships, it's that we already know shooting at EVE ships is going to be a thing, and all you're doing is presenting a gimmicky way to go about it that is almost certainly inferior to what CCP already has in mind. |

Yea before shooting ships in EVE happens I want to see EVE players be able to do massive damage on a untold scale to Dust, I've seen people lose like 2 million protosuits and QQ, but thats nothing to losing a 3 billion Tengu. |

Considering CCP hasn't posted anything yet, I have to infer that CCP has nothing set in stone as of yet. No one wants to come within range of a planet and be automatically fired upon |

That will essentially be it, except if no one lands to stop the gun from firing, the gun will charge up without interference. Obviously, this would only work for prolonged space-bourne conflicts, such as the Caldari space battle we experienced recently. This would encourage EVe players to assist their allies in controlling key gun emplacements, so they will have an advantage if a conflict ever happens in their space. This could add a new lvl of strategy to both EVE and DUST.

There would have to be a way to balance this, no nukes like CoD, but the OBs now seem pretty sad compared to what EVE ships are capable of. |

Would be cool if you could see the effect of the guns, like seeing them turn to target the enemy and then destroy the ship |

If you make a game like this where we can shoot at the eve ships than the eve ships should be able to shoot down on the planet indiscrimintly whenever they pass by a planet that mercs are fighting on
ps how many times are you going to post the same topic over and over again nobody with the exception of you likes this idea |
