Does anyone use autoaim? Asking for ds3 and assault rifles, I know the auto aim is different from having it off, so don't go there. |

there used to not be a choice and it was on by default, as soon as it could be i disabled it and never looked back. it never really help imo, and shouldnt.
it tracks targets your not focusing on that move accross your field, so the guy your drilling who is almost dead suddenly gets a break |

I disabled it and didn't really notice any difference, and i couldn't be bothered to switch back, so i'm running around without it. |

for me it not did because i was used to other FPS without autoaim. it was tracking late so you still had to aim, i guess someone could get used to it, but i found it useless for me. the auto tracking is like a second behind so you still have to push the stick.. just not as much... |

I hate anything that affects my aim. Now I am not saying that I'm too L33T for Auto aim. Im kinda a control freak. Anything external force that affects my aiming/controls is a big No No.
Why I don't use it.
1. Auto Aim has a tendency to freak out when multiple targets are clustered.
2. I don't like a system that compensate or takes control of my aim.
3. Auto Aim goes mostly for the centre of body making it hard to go for headshots. Headshots are usually the difference between winning and losing against any good player.
BTW this also goes for armour plates grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

I thought the in-game menu has the "aim-assist" option, not the "auto-aim".
Aim-Assist = Nudges your weapon just a little bit in the general direction of your target but you have to do the rest of the work when it comes to lining up your shots.
Auto-Aim = It just simply pulls your weapon right onto your target as soon as it gets near the targeting reticule. <---this we don't have. |

From my testing, ADS is much better without aim-assist. However hip-fire tracking is greatly improved with aim-assist.

This also goes for the speed at which you turn and how high you're able to jump. |

Does the 3% movement penalty have a noticeable enough effect to forgo the extra 65 hp from basic plates.
I cant decide whether to go for the basic plate or basic shield regulator on my type II assault. |

I don't think it actually works. I have it on, but I also play KB/M, though KB/M doesn't shut off the controller so technically it should still track but I don't feel it does. If you are using the controller alone I don't see why you wouldn't have it on. |

I've used both, definitely prefer the shield regulator, the plate always throws off my already terrible aim. |

Whether by design or design failure it made no difference that I could discern. Turned it back off. Never noticed any effect. |

I think its best used with shotguns. But its probably better in the long run if you can do well without it. |

It is a lot closer to the second than the first.
Well, we don't have the aim assist that causes your aim to stick to the target as you drag your reticle across it.
AIm assist in Dust actually moves your reticle onto the target.
There is no sticky, or magnetic sort of aim assist.
What it seems to do is if a target is moving in front of your field of vision it will drag your reticle onto that target. Set up a corp match with some friends and have the reds run back and forth in front of your aim. Don't do anything or try to aim. Your reticle will jump around and track targets as they move in front of you. |

Its something i disabled early on when i was thinking something was bothering with my aim and when i was drilling a guy at cqc with my assault rifle a wild scout jumps accros the reticle and all of a sudden i was shooting the scout.
The scout takes off and the guy i was putting holes in kills me, i went to look for that feature and killed it :p
At first i though i moved it unconciously but nuhuh, it was Mister Aim Assist.... |

Auto-Aim = It just simply pulls your weapon right onto your target as soon as it gets near the targeting reticule. <---this we don't have. Actually, what you described are different degrees of auto-aim, not different systems.
The game doesn't use aim assist, it uses low-grade auto-aim.
Aim assist is where it DOESN'T automatically adjust your aim, it just adjusts your turn sensitivity based on the location of enemies. You turn faster towards enemies, and slower away from them. Auto-aim means the game adjusts your aim without you needing to touch the controls, which is what DUST does - and it's not consistent or reliable in any way, so having it turned off is a good idea. |
