Are you MOTHERKITTEN KIDDING ME??!?!?! What the KITTEN does a foregrip have to do with ANYTHING! Why do you kite flying COD-FISH have to have these wastes of developer time!?!
Explain this to me...nobody has! What would it add to the game except 2 seconds of oohing and ahhing for the user?!?!
If you must...just turn your sound down and imagine that it is suppressed. Or use your imagination to imagine the stupid foregrip is there if you have to. While your at it, you can imagine sparkles cming out of the barrel and you riding on ponies instead of LAVs as well!
Can you imagine the developer investment time going into all of the visual animations for weapon customization variations, graphical changes, visual graphics caching, database expansion, not to mention the complexity of layered fittings management so that you have to 'fit' both your gun and your suit???!?! These aren't talked about because they are soo stinking far away in plans that probably nobody is working on them except in the form of post-it notes right now.

If that weapon stat mods is all you want then don't talk weapon modifications, talk about different modules that do this. What you want is not a completely different system that requires a whole new glitchy UI that could cause unplayable 'spinning disc' glitches just to tailor one out of 20 different weapons in your inventory.
If you just want to alter the kickback of a gun, tell CCP "I want 'gyrostabilizers' which are actually things in Eve" they are modules that you fit on a ship (dropsuits in our case). But you don't have to design a completely different UI that complicates fittings.
My point is, it sounds like you guys are asking for a fundamentally complicated UI and database iteration. Adding a fittings window for things inside of fittings windows would make things really complicated.
Alternatively, Eve has things called 'scripts' for some modules. They are cheap alterations to stats that basically make a module that has multiple benefits forced to be maximally effective in one at the expense of the other. So you could get an assault rifle script that increases RoF at the expense of range, or vice versa.
I'm just afraid that so many people will whine about visual cosmetic and meaningless changes and customizations that development time will be funneled into this rather than core gameplay iteration and improvement.
Tl;dr- think in terms of 'weapon upgrade modules' rather than 'weapon customizations'. |

LT Dans Legs wrote:Of course skills allow for percentages of bonuses to the performance of a weapon. But whats wrong with attachments to give you even more? You may be able to see the tracers but only if your looking in the direction the shots are coming from. As for all the scientific analysis of what the non existing weapons do is all speculation. I really dont think plasma ammunition even exists so how the hell do you know how it works. Besides they already said the reason for taking off the scopes was to cut down to basics so we could modify weapons later on with attachments if we want to. Dang, some of you are just uptight know it alls arent you.
What's so bad about another high/low slot module that does exactly what you are talking about? Check this out as a weapon upgrade as opposed to a whole additional UI interface necessity. You could even start to have regular modules affect the look of dropsuits.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Basic_Magnetic_Field_Stabilizer Various weapon upgrades would affect the gun's stats and possibly sights and range etc.
I'm just against the time and effort it would take to reinvent a whole additional layer for customizations? |

I'm not trolling. I want a clear answer on what you guys are expecting for these ambiguous 'customizations'. What I've heard so far is people just want design fluff and not actual dynamically affecting and additive content.
Do you want...?:
A.) Mostly more visual choices to weapons B.) Mostly stat based adjustments to current weapons C.) A complete overhaul to the ability to minipulate the first hand view and sounds of weapons D.) Basically a fitting screen specifically for each weapon so that you have something like highslots and lowslots to fill for each?
Now what would you trade out of the next release in order to see this feature...(what would you scrap in the next release)...?
E.) Actual PvE content F.) Players battling over nullsec space G.) An actual player based market H.) New maps |

There is not a lot that is coming after Uprising that is likely fully developed. They can shelve whatever they are working on and go in a different direction. Dev resources are not unlimited. They can only do so much. They could hire a bunch of people, frontload the development, and then fire everyone come release time, but that is not CCP. They iterate, slowly and with intention. |

Fine I'll let you guys whine in your own inarticulate ways and get whatever CCP gives you, and then watch you whine because it wasn't what you wanted, and then watch Free Beers try and write an uber thread to build consensus on what it WAS you wanted after the fact...
But judging by the last thread you started Sev, I'm thinking that I don't have to take your non-constructive engagement too seriously...
My initial response the the OP was, "What exactly do you want."
And there hasn't been any sort of real response yet. It has only been, "we want better sights." ...WTF does that mean!? ...10 different sights? Interchangeable sights, or different ones for different guns? Right now we are looking at what, like 12 different weapons, with like 7-12 meta levels for each... How do you suggest all of them are dealt with as far as customizations go? Do you only care about AR customizations, or are you also thinking about laser users and HMG users? What kind of interface are you thinking about to use these different customizations? How will you be able to know which dropsuits will have the customizations you want? Etc...
Flesh out your flipping concern rather than just say "I want an ACOG" |

My bad on the emotion then. I've just had enough of the over 400 threads that mention weapon customization. It is because most of them begin with..."In game xx they have ACOGs so it's what I'm used to..." Im just tired of those posts, this one pushed me over. I wanted a real suggestion for once. |
