What is wrong with with pve? At least 1/2 of EvE is pve. 1.0 - 0.5 is mainly pve, worm hole space is an ISK farm and is probably 75% pve and low and null sec are full of pve activities. EvE gives out SP no matter what, it is not based on anything but time and implants. DUST is one of the most boring games I have ever played and if is because it is all PvP right now. I can't choose where to go, I can't choose what to do and I can't even use the market(a real market). The game as it is right now is how it will be in 5 years if we don't get pve added. The player base will grow for a year, the same things that are happening now will be cried about then and the the game will die off 6 months after that because it is boring. It is worse than cod and that game makes me want to cut myself just so I can peel off scabs. The thought of a PvP only DUST makes me sick. Ratting is fun, mining is kind of fun and exploration is fun. I think I have been blown up maybe 15-20 time in the past year and not one was from PvP I started or wanted. It was a lone PvP guy looking for scrubs like me who are out of our comfort zone.
I am not a full blown carebear. I live in a 0.5 system but I like going into low sec and worm holes for better loot and mining. If EvE was all PvP it would suck too. Lastly, without pve the economy could not exist. Pretty much everything in EvE comes from pve and lots of that stuff from high sec. So before you start talking trash about pve pilots/mercs you should realize that every piece of gear on the market was produced by pve. Well unless you consider mining, research, manufacturing, invention, hauling, exploration, planetary interaction, gas harvesting, ice mining, being a CEO or any other director a PvP game. The market is more PvP than any of these things. |

It goes back to to the normal fps attitude in which all actions are rewarded, none are punished, every toon and weapon should be the same. Coupled with the fact that it takes no thought what so ever to push respawn. Hopefully this game can open some doors in people's mind. Life isn't fair, everything has a cost and all actions by a player mean something. These are things New Eden can teach us. |

beg for ai.
then make a ton of excuses why it's the better players fault for being better then you.
Peace B
I am not making excuses, I know they are better than me and I don't care. My question is why build the game if you leave half the game out? |

All I am saying is that half of EVE is PVE and the PVP would not work with out it. I am not saying give me a tractor and a shovel so I can grow crops. I am saying that the PvE part needs to be there. This game isn't that fun. I was hoping for a complex shooter with lots of options in profession and style of play as it is the game is a dumbed down interface with no depth made not to confuse or overwhelm the fps community.
We need a market, missions, ratting, Radar and mag sites to loot along with all the stuff we are about to get. There needs to be lots to bring people in or it will die just another shooter.
Ivan, EvE is in the name of the game so some things should carry over even if you don't like it

I agree with you, and I think on some level the devs do as well. However, without the basics of a solid shooter the rest of that is pointless. My guess is that the fall expansion (EVE is summer/winter, so Dust might be spring/autumn) will be something like " Bounty" and will include more types of merc contracts and maybe some of the district harvesting and manufacturing that they talked about in the Seeding the Universe talk.
I am easy going. I don' t really care how much pve they put in but something has to come along soon that is a change from constant PvP. Maybe there will be enough content updates and new gear that I will enjoy playing again. I hate to keep on the EvE train but I know when I log on I can do anything and go anywhere. That's what keeps me coming back to get blown up. |

I hope so. Those drones look like they need a face full of laser. I just want something different or lots more things to skill into and buy.

BootStrapWill wrote:On the subject of "go anywhere, do anything", why would PVE need to be limited to planetary installations with drones? While drones are a cool place to start, I'm of the mind-set that we should be just as free as a capsuleer to d**k around and end up getting ganked on some back-water asteroid installation.
Might not we get a lore-friendly reason to hack our way into a Sleeper station sitting in WH space? A capsuleer jumps in, and sets up a cyno for a war-barge to follow. Cyno would have a 35 minute alert for any corps to flag the request and jump in, and there would not be a limit on the number of corps that could accept, so long as they could hold off the security drones. War-barge launches bore pods that breach the exterior hull, and begin to inject mercs inside the station. While the capsuleer fights the security drones outside (capsuleer can choose not to defend any corp they wish, but the war barge should have basic weaponry, possibly manned by any Merc that wished to stay out of the station), we fight the security systems inside, along with any nasty surprises the Sleepers have waiting. Epic loot for anyone that can survive, and resist any Sleeper interference in the implants. This could branch the FPS into the FPS Horror if required, but it's not necessary for rewarding gameplay.
Maybe a Sansha incursion pops up and is taking over a POS, and the Mercs have a limited window to respond to the distress beacon and trash some Nation soldiers. Similar to above, the emergency beacon can act as a Cyno for the war barge, or the mercs can spawn at strategic locations in the station. The more station you control, the higher the number of mercs that can spawn in to assist/stab you in the back.
This doesn't take anything away from PVP. If anything, I'd love to be doing a PVE instance, and have to be worried about some blueberry or raspberry popping around the corner and ruining my day. If it could be done in any normal social interaction, I expect a remote possibility of legitimate griefing in PVE as well.
As for the argument about walking on the planet and getting attacked by farmers, I have laid out in another thread my ideas for a player owned mining claim. Claim jumpers would be a concern, and you would have to defend your investment.
Just because someone says PVE, doesn't mean we should have to assume a drone infestation in an industrial/military complex planet-side.
All or any of these would be great. I feel the same way about being caught in a bad district and getting melted down. I am hoping for exploration sites like the one in the intro movie.
Show up to the site to hack a console or something using a hacking tool and have to do it while under fire from enemies both real and NPC.
I don't know about mining but any kind of PVE is fine by me. Just something different. |
