Jimmy woke up early that morning, a rumbling in his belly rousing him from his slumber. Wiping the sleep from his eyes, he crawled out of bed and got dressed. Stumbling slightly in the darkness, he grabbed his money, and headed on out the door. The air was crisp and cold, the faintest glimmer of sunlight resting on the horizon. Jimmy started to walk briskly down the street, only one thing on his mind. He needed it. He craved it. Nothing would stop him from getting it.
Nothing.
Or so he thought. Hours passed as he carried onward, the sunlight quickly falling to the onslaught of rainclouds ahead. Pushing his shoulders up and hanging his head low, he moved on through the torrential rain. The road winded and twisted up and around and over and back, all the while his lean form, battered by the wind and rain. A faint howl could be heard amidst the whipping wind, a strange sound that could barely be heard. Jimmy paid it no mind as he pushed forward, determination in his blood. Nothing would stop him.
Nothing.
Then it happened. His senses were dull from the weathers attack, so at first he didn't even register the bolt of lightning that sundered the tree beside him. Startled, he stopped and looked around as it all started to come to him. Still in the midst of piecing it all together, a massive tree branch slammed down next to him, nearly scaring him half to death. Heart racing and senses flared, he stared at the charred branch beside him, his gaze only drawn away by a sick and crackling voice from where the lightning struck.
"You will not leave here, not in that....flesh suit" the voice rasped with a violent slur.
Spinning around, Jimmy saw only smoke rising from the smoldering tree beside him. Looking all around, he could see nothing, yet could hear the faint echo of the creatures laughter, bouncing back and forth amidst the wind and trees. Shaking his head, Jimmy quickly moved on, sure that he was simply seeing things. Nothing could stop him from getting it.
Nothing.
Something slimy wrapped itself around Jimmy's right calf in the blink of an eye, and before he could register what was happening, it flexed with an iron grip, completely shattering his leg. Letting out a horrible yell, Jimmy's momentum sent him face first into the pavement, a comforting embrace compared to the serrated tail that plunged through his left shoulder. Before he could even let out a yell, the creature hoisted him off the ground, ripping his leg clean off. His vision red and hazy, Jimmy could only make out twisted shadows, weaving around him. Searing pain rushed to his head as the venom inside the tail took hold, quickly eating away at his brain matter. All he could hear was an echoing, maniacal laughter, drifting on the rain.....all he could do, in his final moment...all he could see...all he could feel, could think about....was that one thing....that one thing that drove him so completely, that beautiful light at the end of the tunnel.
In his last moment, with his final dying breath before the demon tore him asunder, he gasped....
