So many members on here constantly moan, and ***** about how terribad their connection is, and how they are always laggy in game. I want to see just how bad your internet connection is.
Now If you've played with me, I too have complained about my connection. but I have good reason to. When I'm playing this game, I'm usually competing against 4 computers, 4 phones, an Ipod, a PSP, and a nintendo DS.
There was even a time where the lag got so bad, that my PS3 actually thought DUST was corrupted.
Here is my usual interweb connection. linky I cannot imagine what it must be like for my PS3. It fluctuates quite a bit, which gives me some really unstable gameplay.
Here is the website to check your internet speed. linky |

Usual PC connection
I usually never complain about lag though (I guess I have good reason to); however, I do get the occasional FPS lag game due to me running the game for too long... Meh, it's a good life living in America. |

It seems as if everyone is testing their speed to the nearest Internet Server. You should be testing internet connection speed to the Server in London England, as that's where the Tranquility Server is based. You will probably find that when you test connection to this Server your speed is significantly slower (my download speed is 1/4 as fast, and my ping is 3x longer, compared to local)

You are sure that you're modem and or router is not broken? This looks like the old ISDN speeds. |

Here's a little insight ladies...
You don't want to preform a speed test. You want to perform a 'ping' test.
Speed test shows how much bandwith and information you can transfer at one time without any pauses. Here's the problem, you may have internet speeds that say you can transfer 16mb but in reality, computer hardware is limited to transferring and obtaining up to 1mb.
Other words, take 16mb speed take a usual 30% reduction of server overload which gives you true 11.2mb avaliablity which means you can hook an average of 11 computers to the network.
Ping on the other hand, is the time it takes for you to send and receive metadata packets. Which in turn, defines how quickly you upload and download information for real-time games for example DUST 514.
What yall should be doing is taking ping tests from Atlanta Georgia, Iceland, Tokyo Japan, London, and Australia.
Instead of getting cocky with speed tests showing off how wasteful you are with your money. No, bigger lines for more transferable data does not necessarily mean it is faster. |
