So why exactly can't I hold Triangle to drop on my belly, tap Triangle to crouch, or hold Triangle to go from prone to standing?
I can run, I can jump, I can do sweet aerial 360's but I can't just lie down.
I leave you with the following CCP in case you guys need inspiration. I realize this is revolutionary and not a standard FPS feature...

PS I think it is obvious that I am not advocating CoD diving and other such nonsense but for the record "I am not advocating CoD diving and other such nonsense". I just want to be able to lie down, like a reasonable human being when facing a wall of superheated plasma rounds, lasers, forge gun rounds, mass drivers, and assault rifle/HMG bullets. |

Crouching gives us enough of a position change at this time. Going prone would only further enhance the already large annoyance of snipers, and make them harder to detect and kill.
Not that I'm against good snipers... but when you see half your team is sitting on a hillside with sniper rifles, well.... I think most of you get my point there.
What I would like to see is more movement options, such as the 'Slide' which can be achieved by sprinting and hitting crouch. Or the Rail leap, jumping over a rail, or running up to a low rail.
Ledge grab, when you JUST miss that jump, and then you have to pull yourself up.
Movement options, not stationary options. |

I fully agree with you. I posted that after becoming frustrated due to a specific tactical situation. I think the ledge jump, slide, grabbing and pulling yourself up are all needed. |

Yeah, I agree. If the animation took like 5 secounds, and you must be in a plane surface to use it, then i agree with it, because it just makes a lot of sense.
Or maybe, only Scout dropsuits can prone, with all the details and requirements from above obviously. That would give the dropsuit an actual usage other than freaking shotgunning.

I propose a different option: Supine.
Seriously, every game on the market has a prone option. Go for the leisurely gun lounge. |

Another prone thread.
As usual, no. There are only two options that have ever been achieved in a videogame before now:
1. Slow-paced long-range combat becomes the only viable option. 2. Exploitable in fast-paced gameplay.
First option isn't terrible in its own right, but it's a terrible idea for DUST. Second option is just objectively a bad idea without any valid redeeming features. Unless you can come up with a magical third option which no game developer has come up with yet, I'm sticking with my usual "please, please no, never do this to us" response. |

Forget prone positioning. It's not a suitable addition to the Dust universe. It will only serve to complicate matters in a extreme way (especially since every noob will go to wesley snipe fits and just play camping marshmellows all day-disgusting)
But the slide idea? Oh I'm liking that, I'm liking that alot. |
