I shall make no claims to being the best, but I wish to impart that which I have learned.
-Stay calm. the way you kill is with a precise headshot in close quarters. clumsy random firing may save you every once in a while, but you need to be that much better than the other guy to consistently win.
-Again, stay calm. It does not matter if there is a HMG in front of you, grenades ready to pop on your right and left, and a shotgunner at your back. You must maintain your focus, even when death is already pointing and laughing at you.
-Pick your fights. Always try to have an exit strategy, for times that are not like the above situation when say, someone snuck up on you(it happens to all of us sometime) If they get the first shot in and you aren't already aiming for their face, put some distance and hard cover between you and them. Wait them out, they will try to come around that corner, and when they do, put one right in their brains(this means memorize where "head level" looks like, keep you gun there and wait or them to come around the corner)
-Want to get better faster? use two pistols, preferably of different types(my standard is a breach and an assault/regular.) Having to cope with using two different strategies will help you get better with your aim, and tactics in general.

I've taken heavies down with a few expert shots from a scrambler pistol, too. The most important thing is too know your advantage. I usually have a scrambler pistol on my scout suits and staying jumpy and outmaneuvering the enemy, often gives you enough time to land a few shots on them while they try and catch you. |

hm, that's a different flavor, I play an assault using 2 complex sidearm mods, a breach and a KLO-1. If I get a headshot with the breach, everything short of heavies and vehicles dies in one. It's also slower than hell on the refire, forcing me to get better shots the first time. Thanks to my assault shields, I can tank a couple rounds while lining up that perfect shot.
find target, focus, trigger pull, breathe. Reload. that's my strategy. occasionally something a bit more fun like using crates and such to create some height advantage in a close firefight. |

That's a nice setup. I'll have to try that some time. I always try to use crates. It's harder for heavies and assaults to keep that aim with all the recoil meanwhile they always try and move closer, making it easier to get the kill. :) |

When it comes to picking fights with Scramblers level ground is your friend. If they're remaining at a constant elevation it's much easier to land headshots. If somebody's juking on a diagonal slant of ground they're effectively bouncing up and down as well as side to side, not that much harder to get bodyshots but singling out the head becomes difficult.
Pretty much covered above but when flatfooted try not to panic fire. If juking to evade some of the fire you want to evenly space shots to mitigate CoF bloom. Alternately you can try and whip around quickly to aim down the sights at the targets head and hammer away. I would recommend not missing. This can work by merit of the Scrambler's sheer damage potential, within range 4 headshots using a Militia Scrambler w/ Weaponry V should drop most heavies. 277.2 armour damage a shot, 356.4 shields. Max RoF is also very fast and ADS preserves accuracy, going head-to-head with HMG heavies is far more feasible than you'd think.
Regarding loading up with complex sides + Breach, yeah, it is pretty delicious getting those perfect shots. It's just a shame that the precision variant is the one that loses out on range. |

Scoring a headshot with the breach and OHKO'ing someone is a wonderful, wonderful feeling.

I'd like to hear some opinions on which suit to use if training into a pistol as a primary weapon.
I've just recently started playing Dust, but I've been experimenting with both a logi and a scout suit with a pistol, and can't decide which I like better. The scout is obviously much more agile, but the logi can withstand a bit more alpha before you can land that OHK.
Anyway, opinions and advice would be appreciated. |

now do it three times in a row in 6 seconds. Feels almost as nice as good scotch.
not trying to be condescending or anything, you just need to keep improving all the time.
Add to the infamy of duelists everywhere, making us a terror when sighted on the battlefield! make those who laugh at you flee before your "inferior" weapon, show them true skill!
always remember: Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Shoot them right between the eyes! |

I use a scout when going 'duellist' pistols, carrying an assault scrambler and a breach scrambler. I'd like to say I use the breach the most... |

*Sigh* If only they made dual-wielding sidearms possible. You'd of course be unable to ADS, and have an accuracy/reload speed penalty, but the Dual-Wielding skill would decrease those until they reach zero. It'd be hard to land headshots while DWing scramblers, but think about double-headshotting an unaware target in CQC. |

After reading this thread I decided to give the duelist a shot so I equioed my dragobfly witha breech abd burst scrambler and I got to say pow 13/2 hunting snipers ob the first shot and 21/3 on the next mao yet again hunting snipers. The breech was good for the exicutuoner back of the head shot and the burst was good for the spray and pray cos they jusr turned round and seen you . Now I norm run heavy so I tryed targeting heavues to find out if it was any good against my chubby bretherin and well it was devistating if I got the drop on them . Every one should try thus fit out its a great laugh and will teach you allot about the gsme I.e. how to pick and mark your targets wisly , how to move across the map unnoticed and also it will improve your gun game . |
