Why is it that we cannot run at a slight angle from straight? We have snipers, rain guns, forge guns, stabilized blasters,installations, and all other manner of weapons that can hit you from WAY off in the distance, and I am forced to change the direction I am facing in order to dodge bullets. Even if it was only up to 10% off from straight ahead I would be happy, I just want to be able to dodge incoming fire without having to turn my whole body/stop running or having to take my eyes off where I'm running to.
Is adding a 10% left/right variance to the forward running movement range really that difficult? |

its called Z running and if you were being targeted by big guns why would you wanna just run at an angle? would you wanna just turn and get out of line of sight ASAP? |

Yes. It would be quite difficult to work it in. The devs could, if they wanted, but do you want scouts Z-running everywhere? Some people have enough trouble with scouts as is. |

Some people do. I play scout from time to time, and while I enjoy my ability to dance around a decent amount of the playerbase, I don't want to be able to dodge nigh everything. |

An easy way to prevent scouts from becoming OP via "z running": Set it up so that the faster your forward movement, the smaller the range of your forward movement arc. It makes sense, the more momentum you have, the less you would be able to vary from that path without losing control (and I doubt CCP is going to add in a mechanic where people can fall over due to cornering too fast lol).
They would still have the same run speed as they do now, the only difference being that their forward movement range while "z running" would have a smaller arc than slower suits.
And I'd be glad to give scout SOME bonus since scout suits are the only suit worse off than heavy suits right now. Scouts are the single most vulnerable suit to ranged high-damage attacks. Z running would complete them, making it possible for them to come at you while running AND being able to somewhat dodge with a shotgun, nova knives, SMG, etc. That's what scouts SHOULD be.
Also, it would be a big help to heavies who are slow enough as it is, them being able to angle their run towards cover while keeping an eye on the enemies position would be a great help to them. |

well considering we are on a planet it is simple not true, unless you assume we are essentially traveling in two dimensions, and even in that case we poorly judge what is a "straight" line on spherical surface. |
