The CC4 Tactical Combat Crossbow is a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem. Initially a traditionally-inspired hunting tool under the name of the CC Huntsman Crossbow, certain groups began modifying it with silencers, improved tension fibers and custom bolts. Mercenaries then got whiff of the enhanced crossbows, and tested them. Urging from the mercenary community influenced Core Complexion into developing new versions intended for military use. Using advanced materials, the CC2 and CC3 crossbows were developed. These were found to be ineffective for military use and unappealing to hunters and the projects were soon discontinued. Eventually, new technology became public knowledge that allowed the Crossbow to become much more powerful and silent. The CC4 was soon released by Core Complexion. Unlike previous models, the CC4 version loaded automatically and fired much faster, much heavier projectiles silently. The Crossbow Bolt can carry a large variety of payloads, including a Hostile Nanite Injector, an Explosive Warhead, or a Sabot. Hostile Nanite Injection Bolts interrupt enemy electronics and cause damage over time, Explosive Bolts cause area of effect damage allowing for long-range bombardment, as well as dealing extra damage to vehicles on a direct hit. Sabot Bolts fire a sabot into the target on contact, having a faster projectile speed and dealing heavy damage to infantry but not against vehicles.
Crossbows are specialized situational weapons and are not intended for general use.
Advantages of the Crossbow
Disadvantages of the Crossbow
- Low Rate of Fire.
- Small Clip Size.
Role of the Crossbow
- Silent espionage and assassination.
- Long-range silent bombardment of stationary targets.
Variants
- Tactical - Fires a Hostile Nanite Injection Bolt, disrupting sensors and causing damage over time.
- Breach - Fires an Explosive Bolt, causing AoE damage and damaging vehicles.
- Assault - Fires a Sabot Bolt, causing increased damage and faster projectile speed.

Oh look, another xbow thread. I hear they make a game you can play known as Farcry 3, you guys should go play it if you wanna throw rocks and shoot bows at people. There is a reason they do it in that game, oh wait. Its because they are on a technologically backwards island. I forgot. |

It sort of goes with the theme of Minmatar. If you don't know, they are the sort of 'make anything into a weapon' sort of people. Also, it isn't a standard crossbow, but something technologically relevant to EVE. Less hate and more consideration? :) |

I'm going to say what everybody else says when these threads come up. Somewhere, there is a guy standing on a hill holding a device. This device has two parallel rods running away from the guy, and when the highly advanced onboard capacitor sends a charge down one rail, it transfers into a hunk of metal and through into the other rail. This causes a magnetic effect where the hunk of metal is pushed to the other end of the rails. Pushed isn't quite the right word - it's a bit underwhelming - as by the time this hunk reaches the end of the rails it pops out the end and remains aloft. How? Because it is moving at a rate that would cover a mile in a second, a kilometer in half a second. This finely tuned device has a tube on top that points out enemies, and is tuned so precisely that an enemy over half a mile (or a full kilometer) away will soon have his head removed by this hunk of metal.
And you want to use a taught string to shoot primitive sticks at people? |

Chewy had a crossbow, and that was scifi. Then again, all the wookies were eventually enslaved to the Empire and their space guns. I guess crossbows could be cool, I always need easy K/D. |

Why do you think that a crossbow using elastic fibres could penetrate our armor that CAN STOP PLASMA AND RAILGUN ROUNDS?
If you want a single shot silenced side arm call it a "Rail Pistol" don't insist with medium - age weapons. |

this isnt cod or whatever sh!t you are trying to emulate.
Also, Chewy used a bowcaster, not a xbow. |

He is correct, railguns aren't really silent, because you accelerate a projectile many times the speed of sound, it should make a sound as it breaks the sound barrier.

It might be worth noting that today's crossbows already have similar penetration power to current firearms. With a stronger, more tense fiber and magnetic assistance, plus a very heavy bolt loaded with nanite injectors or explosives, it is very likely that it could penetrate quite well. |

Wow; I was thinking more along the lines of the bowcaster from Chewbacca. Some ridiculous aggro being thrown at the mere suggestion of taking a low-tech weapon and giving it a high-tech spin.

Yes, I had to look it up. I don't play CoD or Battlefield or anything like that. Well, except for once, and it sucked. |
