The Minmatar Scout trades the scan profile and precision of the Gallente Scout for better speed and durability, making it more suited for raw combat than espionage and other covert affairs, though it still has a smaller signature than most larger dropsuits. The Minmatar Scout has a unique weapon layout. Instead of a light weapon and a sidearm, the Minmatar Scout has three sidearms as well as a small boost to sidearm damage. This gives up some power for much more versatility. Instead of carrying an assault rifle and a pistol of some sort, you can now carry a submachine gun, a flaylock pistol (coming soon) and a scrambler pistol all on the same dropsuit. Or perhaps nova knives if they ever stop being dead. Perhaps the most hardcore will roll with three of the same weapon, allowing them to continuously fire the weapon of their choice knowing they have two spares with full magazines. Advantages over the Gallente Scout
- The Minmatar Scout can carry three weapons.
- The Minmatar Scout deals additional sidearm damage.
- The Minmatar Scout sprints faster and longer.
- The Minmatar Scout is more slightly more durable.
Disadvantages over the Gallente Scout
- Can only carry sidearms.
- Less precise scanning and larger scan profile.
Roles of the Minmatar Scout
- The Minmatar Scout acts as a combat scout, confusing the enemy and picking off the weak at blistering speeds.

Then you say:
Quote:The Minmatar Scout trades the scan profile and precision of the Gallente Scout for better speed and durability
And then go on to contradict the first sentence repeatedly. And I agreed with the first sentence.
I agree they should be faster, and thus, wear less armor.
But they should be able to shield tank (especially at the pro to level) as well as have more low slots. That keeps in with speed vs. durability concept.
I do like only letting them carry sidearms however, and it falls in line with buffing it's speed. You run faster carrying a sidearm. You can switch weapons faster than reloading (For the most part).
then onto the scanning- why would you build speed into a scout suit unless it's purpose was to move to a forward position ahead of the main force? So you'd obviously have scanning capabilities. And then you go onto say they have a larger scan profile despite their concentration on speed which would naturally mean less armor.
So anyways- I am looking forward to the minmatar scout suit- especially the proto. And I'm sorry, but your ideas contradict each other as well as make me aghast with your suggestions since it would basically ruin the minmatar suit.
Your scout sounds a lot more like an amarr scout FWIW.

Yes. You do.
I even outlined it for you.
Quote:The Minmatar are renown for relying on speed instead of durability.

Speed = less armor. That's the main contradiction.
Armor = durability. Read the first quote. Then read everything you wrote after it. Speed instead of durability- and then you go on to say it's more durable. That's contradiction number 2.
The scanning reduction is just dumb, so I won't ever even address it again. But you should know, it's a contradiction for a scout to have less scanning because then they'd be assault. You know what a scout is?
Then contradiction number 3. They are built for speed, which would mean more low slots and less armor. Thus inherent to the game system itself, you'd have a lower profile.
The only good idea out of the whole ill thought mess is having it restricted to two sidearms which would use less CPU/PG so you could load up more kin cat mods (more speed) as well as the fact running with a sidearm is faster than any other weapon. So it could make sense.
Like I said, your scout sounds more amarrish.

Also, I never said it was supposed to be stealthy, and no, scouts don't have to be particularly stealthy. my bad about the equipment thing. Scouts are supposed to be stealthy because they can't take a hit. you want a scout that can take a hit? play an assault. the paradigm we have right now is that shields are loud, armor is slow. Deal with that, or stop suggesting suits that break it.
Damage mods > shields in this case.

Source that says shields are loud in DUST? Because currently, they make precisely ZERO difference to your profile. Testing and devs have both confirmed this with no doubt or ambiguity. Probably something to do with atmospheric distortions - we're inside a pretty stable high-energy electromagnetic field down here, remember? Might make shield-based tracking a less viable option than it is in space. Or the temperature differential between a low-heat-emission contained plasma barrier against the absolute zero of space might produce a slightly more obvious target than the same low-heat plasma barrier within atmosphere on a temperate planet.
I wasn't sure about that either, but regardless. You wouldn't necessarily shield tank a speed suit- you'd do hit and runs- so damage is paramount. You aren't going to be sitting there in a prolonged firefight.
People would love scouts a whole lot more if they didn't try to shoehorn them into an assault suit. |
