CCP, would you consider introducing ability to link up EVE and DUST characters into one character
Ex. 1) EVE character can be linked to DUST character overwriting DUST character name & race. Ex. 2) DUST character can be linked to EVE character overwriting EVE character name & race. Ex. 3) DUST character can be cast into EVE creating EVE character and account Ex. 4) EVE character can be cast into DUST creating DUST character and account
Upon linking up, EVE account could be paid up from PSN wallet...
ISK/AUR wallet and "some" inventory could be shared between EVE and DUST account per character Skillqueue would stay separate but skill books could be bought both ways. DUST SP and EVE SP would be counted separately (or not?).
One limitation would be to prevent logging in and using linked up character simultaneously in EVE and DUST... Untill there is one client only for "EVE in DUST(tm)"
You could still create and use unlinked alts on EVE/DUST side of New Eden...
This operation of linking up characters would be irreversible. Terminating/biomassing character would do so in both games... So you better think twice before deciding to link up.
Hey you could one day come up with EVE client for PS3 and DUST client for WIN/MAC
Just my thoughts. Wanted to share them with you. Nothing special... |

Rowdy Railgunner wrote:(...)Are you going to pay the Millions of ISK it costs to clone yourself everytime you die in DUST?(...) Oh! this... http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/What_happens_when_my_character_dies http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Pod_Death OK, good point Thanx Let's keep two types of clones then. 1) for flying/pod dying (900k SP - FREE to 450m SP - 150m ISK) 2) for stomping/frag dying FREE clones. OK?
Rowdy Railgunner wrote:(...)Pod pilots do the flying while mercs do the dying. I was hoping for ability to PvE in FPS mode one day so it would be part of an EVE agent mission to fly some place by your ship in EVE and put your feet on the ground as merc in DUST. All done as a one character... |

Rowdy Railgunner wrote:(...)No, mercs will design their own hierarchy, with us as pod pilots, their gods and benefactors. Don't denigrade or underestimate anybody... Quote:(...) We will never be equal to them. That is why i come up with this linkup idea.
It's true that in EVE you earn more. I do 1m ISK in half an hour in my measly little mining frigate costing same amount as middle class dropship. As a logi i do 10% of that on the battlefield in same time. But DUST cost you no $Gé¼-ú-Ñ-ó to play while EVE costs ca17Gé¼/mo to play. Both games require RL time to play. Quite alot of it... |

All this demigod/god, master/servant, "we are animals to them" and other "silly" divisions and self belittlement disappears if The Merc character and The Capsuleer character become One... Simple...
I don't know how many active EVE players have set up their alter egos in DUST exactly. I bet 10% of us did. You can tell this by Merc names and capsuleers. Almost same name differing by one letter or name parts put in different order. My name in EVE is... Robert J Niewiadomski (hardly unexpected isn't it? ). For DUST i just added letter D to my second name initial. This is so because EVE and DUST share same character namespace. After all it is One World of New Eden. And every one is unique here. So you can't have same name in EVE and DUST as for today.
It is rather awkward now to have to setup separate characters when "mentally" you regard them as one. So this linkup idea would clear this dichotomy away. And feels as naturally inevitable to me. Would also tied players more to both games (hint hint CCP ).
And as a The Mercenary, expect yourself to become The Capsuleer one day Sooner than you think You just sign up for a 14 day trial account. There are some other options to taste EVE for free for limited period longer than 14 days. Severus, you apparently have EVE char too ... Your CEO, ZionShad probably has a DUST character too "Zion Shad". Please, ask him what he thinks about "linkup"...
Quote:(...)Why would your character ever want to fight on the surface and die repeatedly when they could be flying through the cosmos in a ship the size of a small moon?(...) Please, explain this inconsistency of playing DUST. All your characters are practically You. So part of you want to play DUST and the other does not? I don't get it...
Quote:CCP has already said they want DUST and EVE to be separate games that can exist on their own two feet without the other DUST mercs will be allowed to receive ISK from EVE pilots. Taxed initially and gradually zeroed.
Quote:(...)In particular the economic balance between a 10-year-old space simulation and a brand new free to play MMOFPS is an obvious concern. So, for this first release, any ISK transfer between EVE and DUST characters will be blocked. This will then be replaced by a taxable transfer mechanism with the intention of easing the currency control to 0% and removing it entirely once we are happy the economies have reached an equilibrium.(...) Source: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/74180 So technically this meens a shared wallet. I don't know if it meens riots too BTW: riots are against EULA
Quote:(...) CONDUCT A. Specifically Restricted Conduct
Your continued access to the System and license to play the Game is subject to proper conduct. Without limiting CCP's rights to control the Game environment, and the conduct of the players within that environment, CCP prohibits the following practices that CCP has determined detract from the overall user experience of the users playing the Game.
1) You may not take any action that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on the System. (...) Source: http://community.eveonline.com/support/policies/eve-eula/ But i guess CCP will not ban half of their player base
Quote:(...)The EVE community does not like Micro-transactions(...) What about PLEX in EVE? PLEX is the hottest item in New Eden. You buy it for EUR 20 and sell it for hundreds of millions ISK on Market. Same Market Mercs buy gear from. Heard story of some "poor" guys getting blown up in their freighter transporting 40 PLEX'es in their cargohold? Puff... no PLEXEs...
I'v said skills (injected/used) can stay separate. Skillbooks are just inventory items untill not used/injected. You can sell them.
I respect the lore of New Eden. But it is open ended isn't it? If they come up with Sleeper technology for DUST merc, takeing into account there are intensive research programs on Sleeper technology they can come up with a way of bridging the gap between Capsuleers and Mercs. So it will become part of the lore.
Still unconvinced? Please don't break my heart |
