when the new racial drop suits and more weapons are introduced, I believe a SP reset for both categories is necessary. Our allocation of SP was based on what's available now, if more suits and weapons were there I think many of us would have allocated their SP differently. |

CCP has stated no more FULL resets as in back to neborn clone merc which end of my gun points where.
They could do a partial reset when they release game changing content. A whole new array of suits with different bonuses count as game changing. |

They have already done stuff like that in EVE, don't see why they can't do it here. Especially since we still are in Beta... |

Whatever career you choose in your life, don't go for legal. This is what CCP had to say "We currently have no plans to reset your characters' skill points to a state where they are equivalent to a newly created character, barring something catastrophic"
partial reset is written all over that statement. I suspect a reset to dropsuit skills with the SP refunded when the new suits are introduced, I was hoping they will consider doing it for the weapons as well. |

Ehh weapons not so much they probably won't change as much as suits. From what they are saying a hole new set of suits each race has their own variants.
That's a huge game altering change... and a welcome bit of variance in th current oh look its the same 4 suits I'm killing/ being killed by.
I just want more green curves in mah suits... having to bedeck myself in rust to help my team hurts my sense of style... |

a one time refund of skill points is not a bad thing. Its a good thing for the new players who didn't get the benefit of spending months in closed Beta. Those of you who are die hard fanatics about no refunds aren't looking at the bigger picture. I understand the concept of you made the pigstye and now live in it. However most of clones that are here today are brand new.
I believe doing a 1 time refund of skill points is a positive thing and will re invigorate the new player base. Old timers would simply respec in their same SP tree's. New players would understand their mistakes and hopefully skill up correctly. Would i benefit from it, sure but not as much as the new player base. I spec'd my base skills correctly.
+1 for a one time skill refund. I believe it will help the new players and keep our player base growing and interested. |

Based on how they're handling a very similar change within EVE I'd say they're more likely to provide access to all suits of that type (i.e. Assault, Heavy et al) rather than granting a reset. It also makes more sense from a logistical perspective as handing out skill levels requires less mucking about with the game/code than removing skill levels, creating a tally for the SP used on those removed levels (while continuing to run the current tally for SP gains) and then applying that new unallocated tally to the general pool.
Either way since there's not level cap in Dust and thus having these skills is only a matter of time I'm not going to sweat it one way or another.

ps ~ for those who are keeping score the skill changes in EVE are set up such that you can gain over 6mill SP for free if you've spec'ed properly before the change comes. |

They are moving from general suits to racial suits.
So... instead of simple "Assault" suits, they will have Gallente Assault, Caldari Assault, Minmitar Assault and Amarr Assault suits.... and each will have a skill associated with it.
The "Assault Suit" skill will probably cease to exist, and you will have the SP you spent on it refunded to your pool. You will then be able to choose the racial skill(s) you want, and put points into it/them.
This is what they are doing with Battlecruisers in EVE....
BattleCruisers was a non-racial skill, to fly a BC, you needed racial cruiser to level "x"... then the BC skill. If you wanted to cross-train, you would only need to train another race's cruiser skill to level "x", then the BCs for that race instantly became available.
Now, BC is a racial skill... meaning you need Caldari Cruiser and Caldari Battlecrusier skills to fly the Drake/Ferox... and Gallente Cruiser and Gallente Battlecruiser to fly a Myrmidon or Brutix. |
