Sometimes I want to pick a fight with the tryhards, sometimes I just want to run&gun in a militia suit. Why doesn't Dust allow me to react to this? 10 years ago games used to allow you to pick the server you wanted to go to. That was a much easier system to handle. |

Also, this argument will be mostly moot when Planetary Conquest is released. You could then go pick on the "tryhards" if you were so inclined, or stay in the low skill conflict area that hopefully will evolve after a couple months of district swapping. |

Chris F2112 wrote:Easy solution- rather than KD use WP per minute. That should account for logis, and will end up with much more balanced battles.
This is a much better idea. KDR is frankly a bad stat (way to vague to be valid within the context of New Eden/Dust) and basing anything on it, even e-peen chest thumping, is pretty silly (tho e-peening is pretty much silly regardless sooo ).
Matchmaking should take into account many factors, but having WP per minute included does seem like a positive step. |

Remove the KDR alltogether
Nuff said.
and for those who scream i have a low KDR to begin with, i would rather care less given my Dust career choice to be a dropship pilot. |

It is also worth noting that at some point we are getting PVE missions, which presents a way for new players to skill up (both SP and skillz) with less risk of running up against a bunch of proto tryhards.
However, I agrees that matchmaking needs to be fixed for pubs because it kittens off everyone except the griefers. There are plenty of bitter vets who hate the system as much as the OP- they want to fight the hard players.
Hopefully, whatever system is eventually adopted will reflect numerous measures of player skill, role, and effectiveness.
It would be nice to see WP per match/death, average ISK value of equipment lost per match, WP per minute, WP from kills vs. support, and othe similar stats factored in.
It would even be nice to factor in what sorts of fittings the players use most often as a way of balancing out teams. |
