The team chat is fun but it get bogged down by comms .I liked the MAG ingame leader coms.
Platoon leader can be heard by all Squad leaders [can set orders(I.e. defense order that give a extra bonus for following) and something reaching a Team WP Score. A scan than shows all enemies location visually and on the mini map. #Thats reasonable w/o being over powered like a massive orbital.] Squad leaders can be heard by their squad, other squad leaders, and the Platoon Leader.[Get +5 bonus for following Platoon order. Can call orbitals] Squad mates are only heard by people in squad and squad leader.[Get bonus from squad orders]
*like in MAG platoon leaders aren't squad leaders, so they are in someone's squad*
THIS COULD WORK FOR INSTANT MATCHES(it worked in MAG) BUT IM TALKING ABOUT FW AND PC |

People have mentioned this kind of communication but it's a great idea nonetheless. |

It would Also help the random blue berries and new players to organization having a Platoon leader delegating. Forcing squads would help to place all the solo blue berries. For those who have played MAG you should be familiar to the system. |

But let me offer something slightly different: UVT enables ability to speak in one channel and monitor (i.e. listen) to several other channels of the player's choosing. This would allow for a schema like you described, and would allow for even more flexibility/creativity in utilizing comms a weapon. Corps/teams will come up with unique and novel schemas on their own. |

This and squad leader Icon and platoon leader Icon ingame/on your Hud would help in command and control.Maybe have blue/green flicker as they speak. That way when you say come over here your squad will see you flicker as you say it.Respond time greatly reduced. |

Agreed you can't see who's talking. At the moment you have to memorize what voice goes with the name. And squad leaders and other leader role need a icon so you can see who is what. Makes it easier to defend the SL calling a orbital of you see which one is them. +1 |

The problem with HUD indications of who's talking is the players who're, say, listening to music, or whose mikes are a little sensitive. They'd constantly be shown as talking without actually talking, just like the little icons in the chat channels.
I have been thinking for a while that they ought to overhaul the voice comms.
Fatty 2x4's idea isn't too different from what I had in mind. I'd like it not to be UVT-based, but, whatever, I'm sure I could live with it if it were. The one thing I'd add would be that we ought to be able to listen on multiple channels, but only broadcast on one at a time. Change the D-pad to PTT for the different channels, with Squad being default. So, it's like it is now, but you can hear the Team channel, and to talk on Team, you hold down [some direction] on the D-pad.
The D-pad's current functions are pretty useless, aside from the OMS menu. I mean, I peek at the score while waiting in vain for a pick-up sometimes, or sometimes the map, but these things are both already accessible from the [start] Neocom-and-map screen. I don't think removing them from the d-pad would be a very big loss. |

I plus one'd it because MAG comms were awesome. But we have only 16 v 16. In MAG there were 4 squad leaders and one platoon leader in a platoon of 32 shooters.
What they need to do is implement proxy chat |

A tiered comm system is the only way to make this game work for the serious mercs once PC heats up.
I hope CCP is looking into this sort of setup, because having everyone talk at once will get annoying. |
