The new skybox with the spaceship/Titan/whatever crashed into the planet and the new particle/lightning effects that go with it is a pretty neat addition to the game (it's not enough to make up for the low textured, unsightly wastelands we have to stare at but it's still progress).
I think there should be unique sound effects that go with different environments/skyboxes. The scene with the spaceship is pretty and all but it doesn't really set a mood because there's no audio that goes along with it (if there are audio effects there isn't enough of it or it isn't loud enough). I've ran the audio through my home theater and headset:
-I see dust and debris flying around but I can't hear any wind. -There's a light-show going on above me but I don't hear any thunder/explosions coming from the sky. -There's an enormous spaceship engulfed in flames that's crash-landed just outside of the map but I can't hear the final whimpers of its engine or the small explosions that appear to be going off on it or anything. -On top of this, on all maps the announcer has a boring, monotone robot voice and seems completely disconnected / uninterested in the battle.
Add sound effects to help get a mood going. Replace the boring female robot announcer with something that gives a better sense of urgency. The audio (and thus the gameplay itself) is very dull right now. |

-I walk by engines/pipes engulfed in flames but I can't hear the crackle of fire. -There's a light-show going on above me but I don't hear any thunder/explosions coming from the sky. -There's an enormous spaceship engulfed in flames that's crash-landed just outside of the map but I can't hear the final whimpers of its engine or the small explosions that appear to be going off on it or anything.
Other audio issues: -Your dropsuit makes no noise. There is no sound of clanking metal or footsteps or anything. Your shield doesn't make any noise when it begins recharging either. -The announcer has a boring, monotone robot voice and seems completely disconnected / uninterested in the battle. In fact this boring monotone voice is the only voice that we hear in this game. -Maybe add call outs for our characters to shout at each other? Maybe a "Thanks" when you're revived or a final gasp of breath when you bleed out? I'd like any voice to listen to that's not the boring robot voice.
Add more and better sound effects to help get a mood going. Replace the boring female robot announcer with something that gives a better sense of urgency. The audio (and thus the gameplay itself) is very dull right now.
I turn the voices off all together. |

Bump because this game is definitely lacking in the audio department. |
