What the heck happened?
The environments from the merc battles have invested the regular skirmish and ambush.
Gone are the days of environments with enough light to properly target and kill your opponent, in adition targets are obscured by a thick layer of smoke an ash, further compounding the lighting difficulties.
These environment were cool to play a few times, through the merc battles, and they would be cool to play every now and again, in the future, but right now I am starting to get frustrated at having to play them EVERY time I hop into a match. this is not acceptable.
So... What the heck is the deal here?

How the hell did I become the bad guy in this?
We now have a grand total of two maps to play on in regular skirmish and ambush, and both of those maps are now plagued with terrible lighting and horrible visibility.
What was wrong with leaving these map changes contained to the mercinary battles, like they were yesterday, that way those who do not want to play on two maps with horrific visual impairments, can have the choise?
And for the record: I never said that I could not deal with the terrible visual handicaps we are experiencing now, I am just getting tired of, unnecessarily, having to do so. |

Why has this thread digressed into a debate about kill conditions (with abslutely noone arguing on one side of the debate - talk about your one sided arguments)? This is nowhere near the main point behind this thread. *shakes his head* |

Actually, it is near the main point. You complained that you can't see the enemy all the time while we're in the middle of a major three-day battle of Caldari Prime and the Titan just so happens to crash and causing you to not be able to see clearly because the wreck was blocking the sun. I was able to find and locate targets without even a sniper rifle scope, AR scope, hell I didn't even have a gun, just a pair of knives and no binoculars. I was able to spot most mercs almost halfway across the map before they even showed up on the TACNET. It's called adapting to the environment and learning how to distinguish the target from the terrain. |

If the setting was stable and didnt have a random framerate drop every few minutes due to some sync issue with the audio and the debris it would be less annoying.
Also i am frustrated and desperate for new content as pretty much every closed beta vet and a few open beta vets. But make no mistake the mercenary events weren't getting enough traffic and the fhey need to test this system out as it will be apart of the next build with the updates coming to faction warfare so yea they needed server load to conduct their test and im okay with that.
Im not okay with it not working as fluidly as it should. Sure it looks like but it also creates a hiccup in the framerate regularly and whether thats server stress or engine stress from the effects. |

Read the OP again my friend. I wasn't complaining about the conditions I was complaining about the forced repetition of said conditions.
As to the titan crash, as to my knowledge, mercenary warfare is not limited to a single planet (Caldari Prime):
"Calling all merc. Calling all mercs. Please disengadge from ALL battle zones galaxy wide, and proceed imediately to the manus peaks and line harvest district on Caldari Prime."

Would like a link to confirm that this is why CCP is doing what they are doing. Otherwise I consider it nothing but fanciful conjecture.

Yes, it is absolutely wonderful that we have lost two out of four maps (two out of six, if you count the installation/complex maps) and we are now forced to deal with horrible visibility conditions. * double facepalm and palm face drag - shakes is head* |

For what it's worth, this is part of an event. All "mercs" are currently in Caldari Prime (no other maps will show up). Once the dust settles (no up intended), the maps will be set to their original form factors.
Better feel good about the visual variation and hope they DO add a day/night cycle to maps, and maybe even the weather effects. Would help making the maps a bit more "alive". Also, feel good that you might not have to deal with it 100% of the time, unlike in this scenario (which is basically unavoidable). |

Dude, there's a Titan burning up in the atmosphere where you're fighting. If you don't want to fight on Caldari Prime, the Federal Defense Union and the State Protectorate don't have to pay you any ISK.

It looks epic, and I love it, and it makes the game feel so much more immersive. I spend too much time in game looking at the sky rather than watching for nearby enemies. |

Not true, it is every Merc's given right to *****, whine, complain, and generally be a nuisance to the higher ups about the enviroments/weather they end up in. Yes they know there is nothing that can be done about it, but they still have the right to complain. You really want to hear soldiers/mercs complain? Mess with their hot chow!!! You will never hear the end of it. lol
As for the OP, read the announcement forums, its a fight for Caldari Prime and the smoke/ash and all the debris is from an epic space battle. Would have been nice to see some of the debris fall in randomly during a match with some splash damage effects, maybe next time? |
