I know that tanks are a huge problem for infantry players but there are other ways around the need for an infantry-only game mode.
1st Topic: Dust has become very frustrating and i believe one cause of this is because of the map designs. They favor bad spawns and heavy vehicle game play which could be a huge pain. For example, the "Bowl" map is very tank friendly because there is hardly any cover from any vehicle once it rolls up onto your team. If you try to run away you get fired upon by the rest of the enemy team.
What i'm trying to say as well is even if CCP were to eliminate the ability to use a vehicle in some matches, Dust will still suffer from bad spawns and horrible map designs.
2nd Topic: What we really need is a brand new game mode along with a few new map designs. How interesting would it be if we had a game mode where one team had to progress through a territory by hacking gates a defending them till they detonated? This type would advance in stages and redlining would be limited because this type of mode will centralize battles at specific objectives. The defending team will also have a "safe zone" to build up defenses before moving out. A giant shield bubble would protect them but the attacking team would also have the ability to use WP to bring down the shield and move in to kill off the defending team. How will this happen? There will be a key objective placed somewhere near the enemy team on a high building only accessed by flying a crew in a dropship. Or inside a hack-able building guarded by many turrets only a tank or AV can destroy. Also, skirmish needs to increase the SP and ISK reward a little bit.
These are just my ideas but my point is i believe we don't need a infantry-only game mode because that won't solve our problems we are having with Dust. This game mode will only make the vehicle players upset. The only infantry players that will play the regular mode(not the infantry-only mode) will be people who already have heavy AV. Thus there will be more gamers who will not spec into vehicles because they will always be contested. I know this would be a great challenge for vehicle players but thats why we go corp batlles.

If we don't get new maps then we do need an infantry only mode.
A couple of the Skim Junction variants are the only maps where there's hot-spots that are Tank unfriendly, unless we get more maps that cater to many different play styles then an infantry only mode will have to do. |

well put. Only question is why increase the payouts for skirmish. I think it is due to longevity of the matches or is there another reason. |

A drop suit only variation of ambush? Absolutely.
The tank drivers will still have places to play. Newberry's will have a place to play.
I really see no down side. Outside AV guys will know which mode to catch the most tank drivers. |

Your right about the map designs, some like manus peak are just lousy to infantry, improved map design and infantry only/infantry favored maps will go some way to counterbalance them. And a new game mode that provides opportunities to both infantry and vehicles would be nice |

After reaching max sp there is no reason to play skirmish because you can play 2-3 ambush matches in the time it takes to finish one skirmish. which means after sp cap you can get more sp gain playing constant ambush matches |

Map design is definately one of the key factors that help tanks dominate.
I dont even bother bringing out my tank on maps like Biomass because I know most of the infantry are going to be indoors and those narrow streets are perfect for ambushing tanks. |

A good point, I would only hope that more game modes are introduced, and this game mode would be the only vehicle free mode. I for one have no interest in playing the same game mode repetitively, some people may though. |

what if it becomes too challenging for tankers to play in reg ambush? knowing that only tankers can play in either skirmish or reg ambush, all AV players will flock to those matches. this may be too much a load on vehicles. i just think this might cause too much of an imbalance, i mean we have been fine for this long why change that.
this is the way i think of it....
infantry-only mode- -takes away many players not spec into av
then reg ambush matches will consist of- -tankers against full teams on strong AV
this might cause people to not play vehicles anymore |

At first glance that might be what you would think would happen, but if there are tons of AV players in that mode infantry will come back as the AV players will be easy fodder for a well outfitted anti infantry assault or heavy. It's not like everyone who plays as infantry is going to leave the main mode. |

^ I don't think any tanker in their right ming would play this mode... all it would be is proto forge guns/ swarms vs tanks. and with all the high ground in this game AV will win that battle. |
