The Minmatar Light Machine Gun is a hand-held personal machine gun designed to be carried by a single infantryman. Though it lacks the massive power of it's larger brother, it does not require a Heavy dropsuit to carry and field. The result is a weapon with much the same capability of the HMG but in a more compact and mobile package.
Advantages over the HMG
- The LMG does not require a Heavy dropsuit to use.
- The LMG requires less time before becoming fully accurate.
Disadvantages over the HMG
- The LMG produces heat faster than the HMG due to using only one barrel, reducing continuous fire capability.
- The LMG has a lower rate of fire and thus lower DPS.
- The LMG has a smaller clip size, reducing continuous fire capability.
- The LMG requires crouching to be as accurate as an HMG.
Roles of the LMG
- The LMG can act as an HMG for short periods.
- The LMG can act as an Assault Rifle, but movement speed and accuracy diminish while moving.
Variants
- Burst - Fires more rapidly, but produces heat much faster.
- Breach - Has a slower rate of fire, but produces heat more slowly.
- Assault - Increased range and decreased damage falloff, but has a smaller clip size and deals less damage.

Then it wouldn't serve as a machine gun, it would just be a submachine gun on steroids. |

I want a light machine gun, but I really don't like the idea of just making a regular LMG. I would prefer something cool and weird, something scifi; an LMG that fires like a lightning gun or something.

Since lightning is classified as plasma, a lightning gun would could work for the Gallente. It could also be an Amarr scrambler weapon (laser induced plasma channels to zap). |

It does more damage, is more accurate when crouching, and can fire longer without reloading. It is basically midway between an assault rifle and an HMG, so unless you are insinuating that the AR is better than the HMG in all circumstances, I don't see the argument. |

I could say the same about shotguns, laser rifles, SMGs, HMGs, mass drivers and sniper rifles and make equally valid points at the same time. See where I am going? |

Wait until May when they make the release and see what is missing. Than fill out the list. There is no time to do any of these before the next whatever this is going to be called. |

I sort of feel like this is trying to crowd into a space that is already fairly well covered between the AR, HMG, and SMG. There are enough differences between the AR and the HMG to make them each useful, but I'm not sure there are enough differences for an in-between weapon to have a real tactical purpose.
I feel like I've already responded to this before, but apparently not this thread. It looks like exactly the same idea I responded to, also. So weird. |
