Protogear is kind of becoming a problem. It's real nice and shiny, and I want to run it one day too. Right now, though, it's kind of ruining the game for everyone who doesn't have it. I'll jump into a game and find out real quick if the other team is running it when I die in 3 shots from someone using a gek. After running into this one person so many times, people tend to want to quit spawning, as this single person can wipe out whole squads way too easily.
I'm not saying it should be weakened, or there should be increased level requirements or some such. I would suggest making it more expensive, so as to discourage people from using it so damn much. As it stands right now, if you don't have a set of protogear, and you run into someone who does, you and the other 5-6 guys around you tend to die before any of you can really do much about him. |

People who use proto fits have earned them and the right ro use them. As it stands a fuly specked proto suit will cost the same as a standerd tank and rightly so should they be able to takeout squads of malitia rambos. If you dont like fighting against the shiny black suits then avoid them and dont engage them in combat untill you are in a proto set up. |

thing is, 7-8 deaths later, it's stopped being profitable, and I never seem to catch these guys from behind. I always seem to walk into a **** storm of their shots. (team bullet soak applies when I walk the field) Also, I do see people using single pro to items, like a gek on a standard suit and such, so they can have the advantage without having to spend a full tank hull for each spawn. |

Its publically viewable.
And the Gek-38 is advanced, not prototype.
The Killswitch Gek-38 is the aurum proto gun.
The Duvolle is the gun you will learn to fear soon enough. |

Having a game mode with a basic/advanced gear limit would be a good addition to help new players. What chaps my butt about proto suits is that if you have the cash you can have them with only 500,000 SP investment. But consider even a basic suit with maxxed weapon can have a 40% range and 25% damage over a new player. |

For now: no GEK with dmg mod is more dangerous then duvolle Standard AR/Exile with more dmg modules is far more dangerous. All because no stacking for modules.
So. Pointles to make game mode like: only basic items - no proto. Ppl will cry again.
For OP. If you run... you will always run. At last hit your enemy with anything. Maybe you die (so you do anyway) but next bluedot around you have better chance to stop proto. |

Proto gear has already been nerfed. (both armor and weapons)
It's fine, (and in some cases needs to be buffed) All will be fine once players are segregated by FW, and/or matchmaking system is in place to limit gear use for pubs. |

Aim for the head, does more damage. Use a flux genade to take out the shields
Skill your stuff to survive longer. I forgot too how much I died when first starting out but found it again when creating alts... be patient, skill up and work on your aim too. 5-6 people shooting right can take down a proto suit. 5-6 blobbed together doing a spray and pray should go down for poor tactics. |

Dude if the proto guy dies twice in a match he makes a loss on income from that match...
That being said go look at....analogy: WOW (World of Warcraft...remember that old weird game?)
You've spent a whole month non-stop grinding and lvling being nerdy and forgetting to eat...yay i hit 50!!!
You do the raids, get the shiney awesome gear, and a lvl 5 guy with that free sword comes up and kills you.
Ever happen? No
Stop comparing yourself in terms of gear to those well above your lvl from commitment put in.
That being said, welcome to new Eden, you can be smart and tricky and kill them with laser rifles, nades and shotguns that still do insane dmg to proto gear if used right!
and killing them once would hurt more than them killing you 100 times in terms of isk.
So seriously how do you justify proto gear being all to powerful to kill?
That being said if someone is pwning you with officer gear which is even more ferocious, they have like a 1% chahnce to drop and will sell in the millions, so killing him would be a serious slap in the face. |

I'm not saying make ways to exclude protogear from game modes, this is not a carebear game.
I'm also not suggesting nerfing the gear, as I like using hi powered gear as much as the next bloke. (I can't use it here just yet)
The problem is that you have a couple of guys running around and using proto & advanced gear and beating the crap out of all of us who can't use that yet.
It's gotten to a point now that I'm not even bothering to use tank anymore because I basically die in under a second anyway.
I don't bother running because by the time I'm in their field of fire, I'm ****** anyway.
I keep walking into knots of players using proto and advanced gear and basically can't do jack **** about it. I've been playing all day and getting my ass handed to me because of people using proto gear.
This is starting to make the game unplayable unless you have high end crap. I keep getting killed in 3 shots to some ass hole with an advanced/proto ar.
I get solid blows with a shotgun at point plank, it takes three or four shots to take down a guy in an assault suit. I'm guessing on that number, because I either die after the first two shots, weather they land or not, or I get back up
Sure, if he dies, he loses a lot of isk. But, based on the numbers, these guys have got to be making plenty in return.
You can say what you want about still being able to kill someone, but once they know you're there, they whip around and murder your ass. Most of the time, I may as well be using paint ******* balls. |

This is likely an issue that will turn new players away. They'll find themselves putting full magazines into players that have so much armor and shielding, they can simply turn around and kill the low level player instantly.
They'll get frustrated and leave Dust for a more balanced games like COD or BF3.

Forget new players, players with intermediate skills are screwed. This not only keeps away new players, but drives away us older ones.
I made the hideous mistake of not pouring all skills into ars and their corresponding gear, and as a result I now just kind of flail and die a whole lot. |

ONE RULE HERE: YOU WILL DIE FOR SURE.
When I start my journey with Dust I have k/d about 0.12... Dont give up. Make smart decision at battlefield and level up.
my advice: if you have very bad time ... leave game for few hours and back. This helps. Remember: you will die for sure. Up to you is where and how cost it will be. Rest is only emotion.

I am a vehicle user by default, Dropships and Tanks being my main professions so I have very little Infantry Skill however sometimes I like to run infantry
Weaponry level 4, Caldari Assault Level 2, Sharpshooter level 2, that's about it for my assault, I run a type 1 suit with all militia mods (All free as I have bought the mods and Raven suit). I don't run damage mods just militia shield extenders to try and get a tankier free suit, I'm running around at around 450hp with an Exile rifle. I "should" be dying to Protosuits very quickly, and I do if I'm dumb enough to get caught out in the open or they sneak behind me but using tactics and making the most of your weapons you can kill protosuits.
I always start off with my grenades, hold it for about 5 seconds and release, this acts like a fused by the time it hits someone and if your aim is good enough, you'll take their shields out of more (If you have fluxs use those as the majority of players focus on shield tank, not armor tank.)
Flanking is always a good idea also, hitting them from behind gets them to panic (everyone panics slightly when they're being shot at, whenever I squad with people and they get shot from behind it's like "shitshitshit".
But the best way? Stick with a Squad, have a guy with an injector, ammo, have a logibro who carries both and a rep tool, Squads like these are effective as theres atleast two people capable of picking you up. Protosuits might be strong but 4 guys firing at them will kill them pretty fast. |

i agree with OP, proto gear should be way more expensive for all classes. i was told by iron wolf saber that prices on items will be changed, all suits will be priced the same. so a proto scout will cost the same as a proto heavy. which is nice to see that heavy's wont be the only ones forking out 250,000 isk for their proto gear. but hopefully they wont be as expensive. |

I earned my right to use the proto scout suit and therefore no one should limit my use of them except my wallet. So far, the earnings I make from a single match hardly cover the loss of a single proto/complex fit scout suit and I tend to die about 3-5 times per match on average. Once my budget has been reached, I'm forced to grind up the ISK once again with my cheap suits.
Also, why are you posting about protos being so prevalent if a large number of players here have reported being able to kill off protos in their militia fits? |

Yes and yes, also don't be scared of them play smarter or use cover then pop out when they go after the 5 other guys your running with to attack them. Combined firepower is a great equalizer. Also, if you die in a fully BPO militia suit 200 times to take out one protosuit, what has it cost you? |

well the reason why we are seeing so many proto's is those aur vk.0. as others have said they have earned the right to wear proto gear which is fine, they have actually spent over 2 mil in sp to use em. but for ccp to make VK.0s available to the masses requiring only dropsuit lvl 3 to use is a bit of a joke and an insult to players who really earned them. |

I disagree. The aurum variants of the vk.0 cost real money and they are expendable. On top of that, they are just stepping stones to the ISK variants. Since I can grind ISK no problem and it costs no real money for me, the ISK variant scout vk.0 becomes more valuable as eventually the players will reach prototype level anyways and well probably sell off their remaining stock pile when the time comes.
Suddenly, I feel lucky to have invested my SP into getting the level 5 Gallente scout suit. I get to laugh at the aurum-variant suits. |
