There actually comes a point where a higher k/d makes me assume a player is actually crappy instead of good.
Like, going 30-6 in a FPS, down in the trenches where theres 16 other players who could spawn around you, or snipe you, or throw a random grenade is REALLY solid. And even then it takes some luck and a decent team (so your not always fighting like 5 on 1). Hell, going 20-10 in those circumstances takes a lot of skill and talent. And it still requires a team that doesnt just get ran over (or at least a squad to work together despite the rest of the team)
When you start going 10 k/d average, or even really anything above 5, I just assume you have very little infantry skills and just sit in a proto tank at the redline, and running from any real fight. Because no matter how good you are, theres simply too much "going on" in the actual fight to control the situation to the extent to get such high ratios if you are being aggressive.
My k/d is low, cause i am relatively new, and just started feeling like im doing well the last few weeks. Of course, k/d is bugged as of late, so it seems like 90% of my games dont track. Lately ive probably been around a 2-3. Which IMO is ridiculously good in an FPS. Cant see how players get more than that if they are actually in the fight. i think its like a 1.25 overall, but it only says like 700 kills, and has said so for the past week. |

Honest question. What do you do when the enemy team has completely dominated your team? They brought in a couple proto tanks and just rolled the map. You are redlined, all your team mates have resorted to sniping?
How do you remotely mantain a nearly 5k/d when this type of game occurs a decent amount?
Its matches like this, that I take a negative k/d hit on sometimes. I mean sure, I could just say screw it and hide in the MCC until the end, keep the death count low so it doesnt impact me much, but if im going to do that I might as well just quit.
Or is it simply a matter of this not occuring to you much, because you play with a corp that will field their own tanks to avoid such a situation? |

Well, I dunno, it happens pretty much every match, one side or another. I rarely see a match where one team doesnt redline the other pretty early. Ive been effective at stopping my side from being redlined by joining the "no squad" squad and dropping uplinks to keep folks in the fight, but before then, it was like 50/50 if id be redlined, or wed redline them.
My point about K/D is this, how is it EVERYONE here has a k/d higher than 1? And most are saying like 5+? Who are you fighting? Are you all just avoiding each other?
And also, where are you guys playing? Over the last week or so, im constantly #1 in war points on my teams, and constantly top k/d. Sometimes ill see a 30-1 tanker or something on my team, but thats pretty much it. I dont see any of these magical "5.0 k/d AVERAGE" type players in any games I play. And especially not on the ground.
Not on my team, not on the enemy team.
Though, I guess whenever my team has won the "tank war" and we have tanks just roaming about freely, I end up going like 10k/d + on foot, so maybe I can see how its possible if you roll with a squad or corp that just dominates the battlefield like that.
I guess I just wonder where all you guys are, cause my k/d isnt crazy high, but im almost always top on my team going like 20-10. And I only see something truly impressive when folks are tanking.

Honestly dont see where you're getting an "emo" thing from. There is zero negative emotion in my post, sorry if it came off that way. I'm honestly just curious to what people's play experience is like to avoid death that much. I could be absolutely "perfect" at what im trying to do when playing and I doubt id ever get above a 3. I just like to be super agressive which puts me into situations where I get two heavies and two logis hunting me down 4on1, or a percision strike hitting me, or even if im being less agressive, a solid charged sniper hitting me as I move from cover.
I honestly don't really care that they have high k/d, really just curious as to how they accomplish it. |
