As per the subject line the War Council is a complete parlor trick - a simple misdirection.
Besides the completely appropriate question to CCP of, "Don't you have anything else better to do?" this sudden beta within a beta is to me a thinly veiled attempt to silence, or distract those with influence or following in the community.
The beta has been drifting, and many questions were being asked. What better way to get people onside than to give them a chance to involved with something a little bit special. Them announce that candidates will be "vetted". What does than mean? Is CCP going to get their views on gay marriage?
No. You keep it vague. Then candidates - the influential names, start to pull thier heads in a little. Their forum posts aren't as cutting, their forum replies a bit more forgiving, their blog posts a little more positive or the podcasts a bit more supportive.
Everyone wants to do more than just play the game - they want to be a part of it. Is this what will happen?
All this would neatly kibosh a fair degree of the community griping and bad press for CCP. People will self censor or trample of those that criticise in some perverse online play out of Kaisu. It's perfect for CCP really, and that's not taking into account how CCP make representative groups nigh on useless.
So the question is (and the thread is for) will candidates state their position on any self censorship, or commit to continuing to make critisms of CCP if and when they see it? |

Why would anyone in the War Council self-censor himself ? The whole point of being in it is to be as accurate and fair as possible. I just love how many people see the worst in everything.
And let's not mistake constructive criticism and daily rant. As there are many people here who thinks yelling stuff like "CCP *** that and **** this" is actually helping.
The only self censorship people from the WC (name change, please) will have to do will be about NDA stuff.
Even better, if those fellas in the WC thinks something important is being overlooked by CCP, they will probably try and get the community support or at least opinion on it.

What Cazaderon said... and chances are the candidates aren't even allowed to respond to your thread.
Also, while I'm totally for useful rage at CCP, the tone of what I hope is just your forum/IRC persona is so so heavy with bias against CCP that it's rather difficult to take you seriously. Sure, adopt a dramatic air about yourself, but not to the detriment of communicating effectively... |

Surely you would agree it would be positive for Candidates to provide a view that would test it?

Honestly if more people had a positive attitude and actually helped instead of Bit**ing all the time not only would it make the lives easier on us not having to hear about it so much but also on the devs if we were being a little more helpful then some of the crap some of us do now. |
