Considering how long many of us have been experiencing the [BUG] Kills/deaths stats "frozen" problem and that when asked "Are you able to say anything about whether there's any indication that the 'kills, deaths, warpoints not being tracked in skirmish' bug is possible to reverse or just repair going forward?" CCP Nullarbor replied: "It's possible but not sure whether it will happen. We are reviewing a lot of our data gathering tech right now." I'd like to get some feedback from the community about how they would feel about a leaderboard reset in the event that lost kills and deaths are not recovered after a fix.
I, personally, have rubbish stats because I spend a lot of time blowing myself up to test damage, etc, so I'm not posting this as a suggestion I'm invested in because it's to my personal advantage... but I am sure there are players who have been disadvantaged by this error and who care about tracking their WP, etc, compared to everyone else's so I'd like to see how people would feel about this.
My feeling is that the players who are already had the top will have no trouble returning to the top. It may be my limited imagination but I can't think who would be significantly disadvantaged by a reset, unless there used to be a way to kill en masse which has been patched... which would probably be further reason to do it. The only downside, to my mind, is that those counting total kills would have to start again, and it's probably nice to have those big numbers next to your name.
What say you? Are you guys pretty determined to keep the leaderboard as is, even though it may no longer be an accurate representation of comparative skill at killing and dying?
TL;DR: Would a reset of the leaderboard make you rage? |

It's my feeling too but there's no denying that some players feel strongly about their position on the leaderboard.
Not really my place to tell them the leaderboard doesn't matter any more than it's theirs to dismiss any other element of the game... so the thread is to take into consideration their positions.
If there's a definite split between "I don't care about the leaderboard" and "I do care and my stats are wrong" then it seems worthwhile to me to reset it. Mainly, what I'm looking for, is any expressions of "I care about my stats and don't want the leaderboard reset" and then a conversatsion can be had about whether more players are inconvenienced by no reset than by having one. |

"Commercial Release" is a term which has been used by CCP previously and a status which I've been told doesn't apply yet.
That may be a good time for a reset, assuming that the label is only applied to the game once CCP are confident that nobody is going to get murdered by bugs or have their stats bug out. |

If want a reset you are bias and thats just it. It doesn't matter how you died of if stats are tracked or not. Play the damn game the leader board is just a reflection of your pub play/roles/gear/squad/skills.
Hell how many times did i die from spawning in on reds in ambush or how many times did i die from suicide nades. Yeah its fixed now (though spawning still has issues). what about my deaths getting stuck on terrain. How about when i dc'd and i still get a death. I could go on and on.
Good players would do so much better with kdr no doubt about that. That said, there is no reason too as we all went through the same things together.

Honestly, to remove accusations of bias, I'd be cool with my stats remaining kittened and other people getting a reset. The point is that people who prefer ambush are going to have accurate kills/deaths and players who play skirmish are going to be left behind. Some of those skirmish players likely care about their place on the kill leaderboards. Players who prefer skirmish or ambush haven't gone through the same things as each other. The leaderboard is not a reflection skirmish gameplay any more. |

:P Clarified my position because the bias comment could apply to my, not assuming it was directed at me.
Whether they should or not, a lot of people use the leaderboards. There have been competitions based on who is ranking highest at dust514stats.com, there probably will be again in future. I think that the fact that people use them like this makes it worthwhile to make them accurate.
It's not gamebreaking, but it's something worth mentioning IMO. |
