Hi yall. This is my first post on the forum. I'm playing mostly as a logi or as a sniper, but logi is to me the most interesting support class I've ever encountered in a FPS, aside from the general problems that players encounter on the beta. It is interesting because of the many option one can choose to support the rest of the squad, picking good respawn points, nanite injectors, repair tools etc... What I would find even better is if logi could actually build structures on the battlefield, depending on his level. When you think about all the hype around the 3d printing things, and when you consider this hypothetical project of the NASA with architect Sir Norman Foster using the moon regolite and the large 3D printing machine of ingeneer Enrico Dini, I think it would be a great feature (I'm thinking about long term development for the game here of course) if support strctures could be built live by a single or a team of logi. Sorry for mispealling and bad grammar, I wasn't born English speaking. Otherwise, what are the community thoughts (and hopefully dev thoughts) on this? Regards

Hi guys and thanks for your input I'm of course not expecting anything in the near future. I'm just thinking ahead and trying to get out of the usal complaining about the present "lack of finish" of the game, wich to me is understandable considering the beta status it bears. However important those complaint may be considering the playability aspects, i'd just like DUST to be more than a simple FPS extension of the EVE universe. If I was involved in the actual propsective development, I would have so many ideas about the universe that it would even be difficult to write a blog about it. I think just consider DUST as an opportunity for the FPS genre evolution is already a good starting point. FPS tend to be all about shooting, which is fun and all, but I have loved games attempting to get out of the limits of the genre (such as Mirror's Edge on the PS3 for exemple, or minecraft like instances). As far as official input, it doesn't really matter to me right now. I'd love this conversation to be just about getting new ideas for breaking the limits of the game, weither it's possible in the near future or not. And Aeon, your precision on the limits of the structure size is great, and already easier to integrate to the game. It kinds of remind me of the shield walls of Cerberus in Mass Effect. It would be a great strategic implementation for the role of the LOGI in a fight. Keep em coming guys! It's more fun to create! |
