Or let's just call them 'planetary drones' or 'PD' for short.
Type 1:Dropsuit Launched Drones(DLD) These types of drones are usually smaller , have less hp and deal less damage compared to their older brothers but are cheaper and can be loaded into dropsuits.
In order to able 'launch' from dropsuits they would be 'packed' and would have to unpack after deployment before it's able to operate.
All drones would therefore have a 'packing ratio' the higher the number the smaller the drone can get thus making easier to load them into the dropsuit.
As all races have a different take on drones , Gallente having the better drones, will mean each race will have different packing ratios and different unpacking speeds.
As for the drones themselves , they , unlike in EVE should all be able fitted independently and for the fittings; They should be fitted with 'Sidearms' or 'Drone Weapon Systems' and have 'Drone' and 'Light' slots.
To operate DLDs a merc would require the following skills: Planetary Drone Operation Amarr/Gallente/Caldari/Minmatar-Drones Dropsuit Transmitting
The PD operation skill , like it's brother in EVE, should increase the ammount of drones active at all times Racial skills would have an impact on Packing Ratio And dropsuit transmitter skills should increase the connection speed Mbit/S(should be bytes come on CCP)
Operation: When a dropsuit is loaded with drones you can bring up your personal NeoCom (the thing on your arm) and select which drones to deploy , this tool would also be used to give orders to the drones such as attack , defend, patrol , return etc.
Should a drone get destroyed it might be able to return to duty when repaired if the damage is light enough Giving more reason than just leaving drones to die.
Type 2 Vehicle Launched Drones (VLD) These drones are much bigger , more resistant , more complex , more expensive and kick more ***
The VLDs generally have less PR then the DLDs but the dedicated vehicle drone bays make up for the low PR But also means that drones would spend less time unpacking and therefore get into the action quicker.
