When the game launches I was considering making a Logistics only corporation with minimum requirements in skills to use the reppers, hives, injectors and uplinks. Then sell the services of dedicated logistic personnel to corporations for their major battles. If they cover the cost of 5 fittings per logistics operative hired.
Think such an idea could work? |

In the future yes. Especially with PC.
Hell in the future I can see Rent-a-Tank service.
The bigger questions you need to start asking though..

Sounds interesting. If the contracts work on an individual basis you may just end up showing logis to corps for the corps to hire them without you able to act as a manager. Depending on how the contracts get set up and how dedicated you and your people are it could be interesting. |

I am thinking also we would need to meet certain WP numbers to fulfill our contract. How many actual clones we cost our employer. If I want to be considered the best go to logistics support corp. |

The biggest problem is finding logibros who actually do their job properly and interact with other corporations in a professional manner, or risk the reputation of your service being compromised. |

Which would require a screening process and several runs with other corp mates to ensure a level of comprehension of what we are looking for. After 5 matches and you are judged to be competent you are a full member. If not you are asked to kindly move on and the best of luck in future. |

A while ago, I had an idea like this.
I was thinking of trying to set up a Corp that actually operates as a non-combat Corp, and have non-aggression pacts with other Corps so that if your people are in a battle against that Corp, they aren't going to be killed, but they also won't take an active part in such a battle - no firing of ANY weapons, or hacking of objectives. |

I would see it being non-aggressive as well. Just a corporation to any who can met its service price. It should be able to generate enough revenue to keep everyone going. A little idealistic of me but I think it could work. |

I thought of doing this a long time ago, but the fact remains that it's not possible right now due to the limited mechanics for corporations. At it's inception, L.O.T.I.S. was actually looking at this as a possibility for which direction we would take. It's just not feasible right now however. |

Well.... except with my elbow when I run out of ammo.
Seriously though, I can see similarities, but I don't know the details of the empirical Amarr religion since I don't play Eve, so I can't say whether or not it appears to originate from the same source.
Also, I don't know if the Amarr religion has anything similar to nuns who work for charity (which is why there are so many Catholic charities with the word "Sisters" in it). I'd like to know if it is an evolution of an organized Earth religion (I'll leave the whole outrage over a religion that evolves out for now), or if it is a religion that sprung up in a time after everyone ended up in the current galaxy. |

The Sisters of EVE are actually only passingly related to the Amarr. They're actually a neutral humanitarian organization founded during the Gallente-Caldari War which has expanded to take on other tasks.
And yes, they actually do have a more violent section, as explored in the Black Mountain series of chronicles. |

There might be a small market for this kind of stuff, but I imagine the Corps who are making a lot of isk and are the big factors in EvE are going to use only in Corp players because of the consistent teamwork aspect.
You would need to establish a really amazing reputation in order for other people to hire and pay you over their own in house guys, that or you would be working for smaller Corps who don't have many members in which case I'm not sure you would be making much ISK. |

As a logi this sounds like a bad idea yes one giant order of logi's would look great but big corps are all going to have set tactics and the like in a battle so people who haven't played with each other before wouldn't be as effecitve as a team who know each other.
There is also the spy aspect imagine for example corp A hires a logi to fight against corp B logi fights learns their tactics and moves on, Later corp B hires the same logi to fight against corp A logi knows their tactics and even if they refuse to disclose it to corp B no one is going to walk into an ambush they know is there just to protect an NDA. Queue logi hate as they are easily identifyable and easy excuses for failure as they aren't members of the losing corp.
Plus this would only work if all logi's joined the logi union as corps would prefer to field their own in house logi's than someone who they dont know and probably doesn't care overmuch about the outcome of the fight.
Its a good idea I would love to be part of some giant logi lovefest but think about it the other way we would have to hire other corps to protect us, an entire team of logis wont stand much chance against a mixed team, so in PC any territory we held would be on the whims of other corps. It would only take one corp to attack and we would either have to hire defenders with the same drawbacks as above or be destroyed and then other corps have a choice fight to hold territory for others benefit or maybe attack it them selves leaving the logi corp in a bad situation giving them a better bargaining point in future or simply take territories from our peaceful hands and then tell logi's they have a choice, Live in fear of the big corps who have logis and no need of logicorp or abandon logicorp. |

Sometimes even in the largest of corps real life can happen and people can't make the matches. And it could potentially be even cheaper to hire a Logistics operative instead of fielding your own.
Though it comes down to most of the corporation not knowing when contracts are to prevent spying. Despite wanting to be neutral we would have access to who and when attacks are happening so in that regard I would let only the director know of future operations to help in the coordination and deployment of logistics staff and equipment.
Because that what else we would specialize in, when they actually make them worth it. Those logistics dropship that have reppers for vehicles. I can see business being profitable. |

Or even
Read EVE : Burning Life which focuses a lot on the Sisters as part of its storyline.
It's on sale on iTunes and Amazon as well as in hard copy.
And while you are at it read Empyrean Age and, far more importantly, Templar One which actually focuses on the Dust backstory..
My own opinion is the Tony Gonzales' books are much better than Burning Life, but there you go

Won't know unless I try it out! ^___^
I see to many idiots even in corporations that are "logistics" to actually be called that. More concerned with pew pewing than actual supporting their squads. Heck some don't even carry injectors while others don't carry reppers.
The fitting I have carries all 4 of things a logi needs the nanohive, repper, injector and uplink so I am able to fulfill that vital function at any moment. This is what I would want to build to for the entire corporation having such advanced fittings and tactics of how to be a good support operative. |

It's a good idea.
I would suggest a relationship with corporations where they hire members you are willing to vouch for, but are paid to trial and report back on recruits who are still earning their stripes, to prevent anyone wasting ISK on a member who doesn't know what they're doing. |

It is definatley worth trying and I definatley agree about the bad logi's why run a support class and ignore downed people or refuse to use or carry reppers or injectors. I suppose until the mechanics for this come out you could use it as a logi training corp which would be a good cause I hate being the only logi in a game repairing people, heavies can get so impatient sometimes and end up trying to solo enemies with 0shields and 20 armour lol just because there is a queue forming.
I think a logi corp should make a promotional video saying if your on low health and some dude startes flinging yellow lightning at you its best not to run away declairing it witchcraft lol.
And another to explain that sometimes we just cant revive people because the body isn't actually where it is and no matter how much we scuttle round looking for it with a injector out the revive option does not appear. This has caused me hatemail from a proto user with him claiming I was taunting him by running circles round |

I was considering a training aspect for other corps as well. They send their logi operatives to us and we train them for a fee. Though that seemed a bit presumptuous so I left that out of my posts. To often to I see Heavies and Assault just run around with me trying to heal them and then drop. Well no wonder, if you would have remained in cover for like 30 seconds you would have been fully charged.
Depending on how much HP that Heavy has it is easier to revive than try to rep, provided they dropped behind cover. My injector brings them back with 80% health. Depending on the repper and the intensity of the combat it is only just barely enough to get them by. Which comes down to experience as a Logi-sis (I am not a bro) ^____^ |
