Do they not know how to use the skill book system? or do they think they can just do well by just sticking with the starter fits, and save every ISk they gather? I mean, what use is all that ISk if you're never going to use it? They all lock themselves in **** gear, while the competent players upgrade, and pubstomp with avd/ proto gear. They would all be far more deadly if they just used something better then their starter fits.
Do you even skill point bro? |

As a newberry I still run around in Type 1 Sever dropsuit with a Standard weapon and militia modules. This is because I am still building up my passive skills I.e shield boost and control, field mechanics, weaponry etc. I have only just reached the point where I am looking to level up my logistics dropsuit from level 1 to 4, because I want to use the B Series suit. But before I would use this suit I would also want to be able to put complex shields and Armor on as well as advanced weapons etc. Which means skilling into all those skills as well. Until then I will stick with low level suits because if I put an advanced weapon on a type 1 suit it is basically just throwing away Isk.
It is the same for the suit. Until you can put advanced gear/modules on it you would be to weak to compete with those who have balanced their dropsuits. Unfortunately it just takes time but in 9 weeks I should have what I would consider a basic but good advanced fit.
Admittedly I could get there a lot faster if I focused just on the suit and one weapon but I like to be well rounded so there are all the light weapon skill, sensor skill, and vigor and endurance etc. |

I know how to use SP and spend ISK and run constantly with Militia gear and am hoarding ISK. Why would I waste ISK on lousy-mediocre gear that I lose as soon as I quickly drop dead because my character is as tough as a wet paper towel?
I don't know about the experienced vets, but the tutorials don't explain the ideal path of spending SP and ISK, so if you just go about your thing and then realize you only need, hm, a couple of million SP to actually use all the effective gear you wantGÇöand that's only the baseline if you want to specializeGÇöthere really is no point in buying the low/mid-tier gear. You don't really make a lot more ISK if you win an instant battle or not, and you save a lot if you just run with gear that's for free which leaves you a lot to spare for donating to the corp or buying the admittedly very expensive skillbooks and expensive gear that's actually good and that helps you survive your combat better.
IMHO the skills and equipment are a catch-22 where only the really top-tier gear is statistically really worth it, and only worth it because you're skilled up properly for it as well, or alternatively just rolling with the militia gear and spending pretty much bupkis until then. |

I did this as well when I first started, then I grew out of it and now run about the best I can 100% of the time. ISK is no problem, I play lots of ambush (which are quick matches) and usually get ~250k a match. Even running my top-end gear all the time, I have about 71 million ISK at this point. You ( and those who relate to your results) are exceptions to the rule. That, or I am an exception to the rule because I tend to get around 175k/avg and I fluctuate between 500k and 2mil bankroll.
Only CCp know the true average and means of sp/isk gain. And they're not talking.
So, I am an ignorant blewb who can't fps or you are striking well above the baseline. But truly, neither of us really know where that baseline is. |

a suprisingly large amount of them either don't know to or don't wanna spend the time it takes to skill up. the first thing i do in any game that has a skill system is look it over, it suprises me ppl try to avoid this. i had to talk my friend into spending his points, he's a black ops player.
the other problem is players just dont like to read. my friend was like "i dont wanna read all that stuff" im like. bro... yea he's a typical black ops fan. |
