So a lot of people are bored. IMHO, the game modes need more structure.
The general dynamic of each battle is obvious. The dominant team takes all objectives bar 1, and proceeds to farm the ground spawn, MCC spawn, and objective. The weaker team is then pinned down, losing clones. So people bring more militia grade gear, which doesn't help with the win. Their vehicles are insta killed by rail HAVs.
This is boring for both sides (except the dominant tanker who is having a great time).
For me the 3 greatest problems with this are; 1.) Redline Supertanks. They **** me off. Gtfo. 2.) Gear difference. My advanced suit just slaughters militia guys. And protoplayers do the same to me ( ? SP > all ? The p2w suits don't do so well from what I can see) 3.) camping objective > capturing objective. No skill killing people as they spawn.
I have some idea towards solutions for this... 1a. Change orbital strikes to be time based, like things in MAG. The timer could be reduced by war points. This would garentee a strike to destroy those tanks. If the entire team do rubbish, they'd actually have their strikes around the same time, hopefully allowing some kind of push. Proto tabkers would also still use standard grade tanks, maybe even militia due to ISK. Every marauder brought in should expect to be blown up.
2a. Maximum meta limited matches. Simple enough.
3a. Put objectives INSIDE. Or elevated, but that will cause its own problems. Every objective in MAG was inside a reasonably substantial shelter, and it really added to the dynamics. The current shelter we have is alright for a first attempt, but they need more work.

Make objectives that don't just slightly quicken a timer grind. Make instant death objective win conditions, sch as in MAG Sabotage matches destroying C would end the game instantly. Skirmish 1.0 would have been great for that, just replace the end null cannon objectives with a complete copy cat of Sabotage C, and bam, a fun game!
There are only time based objectives in DUST, instead of having objectives demanding that you respond with haste or you lose.
Any other game in the market has a sudden death objective mode. Search and Destroy in CoD, Sabotage and Acquisition in MAG, Rush in BF3, etc.
Those games have an intensity because you must respond quickly, as even if your redlining the situation is very fluid and can change extremely quickly. |

Need better maps. Crater lake and Skirmish 1.0 worked well. Sure, tanks ruled then, but with a few tweaks, they could work. Would probably be better than the static **** we have now. |
