So I have noticed in my playing many games (but getting bored) some of the more well known people here. Who I will not name because I do not want that kind of drama. But right after they die once they leave the game. If you leave the game early is your K/D preserved as it is? This just isn't a rare occurrence this is quite often since I check who we are playing with then after one death it pops up "XYZ has left the game".
Is one death or a few that bad? Heck I went 1/4 and get 1200 WP (ending up second) last night. It is not the end all be all stat. So why leave? |

I think they just don't want to risk another death, but I think they might be able to keep their stuff, not sure. Most just get "DCed" cause they don't want to ruin their KDR though. |

Hmm... Maybe with PC coming, people who DC early or AFK can have all of the "wasted" clones counted into their deaths?
So if the corp loses 18 clones at the end of a battle because their MCC blew up, and 3 people DC'd or AFK'd- then each of them would add 6 deaths to their KDR?
Have I mentioned that I'd love to see KDR buried deep in the stats and replaced with things like WPDR? |

Yep would love kdr to be balanced with other categories such as WP so you can rate players contribution to the game more accurately. Of course I am not that great a shooter but I do enjoy playing a Logi so no big deal. Of course on those rare occasions when I go 0-5+ it can be frustrating but I console myself with 500-1600WP (on average). |

I am a logi as well so K/D isn't that important to me when most of my games are all over 600 WP. I have a few high kill matches but then I am not doing my other duties. I feel much more comfortable as the support role so I would really like my contributions to be actually be balanced beyond my really terrible K/D. |

The disheartening thing is how many of them there are. I wonder if all their efforts will be justified once this goes live and they have a KDR that does not accurately reflect their skill levels... Or maybe they are doing us all a service by padding their stats, forcing CCP to change the way we view stats, much like trollsroyce is forcing ccp to fix skirmish.

k/d shouldn't matter. Kills tho should count towards WP. So someone's k/d is high for a match, so should their WP, that way it leaves is up to WP to determine match making and skill determining and the lot of people wouldn't be devided by the K/D people and then the WP people, lol. WP should always be the most important thing. K/D people demote more use of team work in most situations if that is all they are worrying about, even eventually rage quitting.
Quitting Early also forfeits SP/ISK from the match so if a Proto dies and then quits, not is he just losing his suit and gear with that fit but also any ISK that could at least cover a portion of the Proto Fit that was lost.
If i used a Proto in a pub match, I was immediately switch to my BPO fits. That was I'm not at a lotal loss... lol. Unless of course the Proto Fit was an Aur fit, then oh well, my loss... lmao, that's what I get for spending money on something perishable |

I prefer to think that whoever it was left because the doorbell rang or something. If they did leave to protect their Kdr then I guess that is fine at this stage when we are not really playing for anything important. However, as the game evolves into planetary conquest (PC) etc where the contribution of each player is important , especially if you promoted your skills based on your kdr, then quitting after one death during PC leaving your corp one man down would be viewed badly and said person would get a rep they may not like. |

when you run b series / proto, the cost is crazy, and we all know how bad team assigning is right now, sometimes you get a crazy op team, or you get first time gamers. if you lose 2 - 3 times, that's a lot of money.
kdr is also a big issue |

My one corp mate and I got an OB and he had std heavy, I had an advanced logistics. He got 1,400 WP and I had 1,200 WP and in that match I went 1/4 and he was 29/1. Clearly KDR is not that big of a deal when we pretty much lead the team to victory.
Or being a logi I just don't understand its importance? Its about how you help your team not just how many people you pew pew in the face or get pew pewed by. |

Well most of the guys that have a 8+ KDR ratio run for the hills if you graze their shields a little, others turn their PS3 off, wait for a random or teammember to step up and take a bullet or hide behind them while reviving them as a mobile shield.
Or when its a mexican stand of, you rush em they flee as fast as they can.
On other occasions if they cant win, take out a tank or 2, 3 ...then still can't win.
and finally the last group that quits every game if they face a stacked team.
In the KDR means didley squat and all their effort will be in vane when they grow bored of padding their stats. |

I think if we are still in open beta for a couple more months then there will be fewer places to hide as a lot more people will be in advanced to proto level gear with decent investment in skills so pub stomping will be far more difficult or at least each encounter will be riskier.
That is until the next major influx of new players. |

I've had games where it goes straight to the game so I spawn in..........get killed 2 or 3 times and see nobody on my team getting any kills........so I push up to look at the scoreboard........my team ALL NPC corp noobs.....enemy team all in top 20 corps.......leaves the match......screw that jazz
Not being a puss but I don't have the patience to put up with being the only competent person on my team or the risk to buy the suits it would cost me.....I don't run free suits......I like the risk |

I can't argue with this. I've never done it, but maybe from now on... because seriously, matchmaking is total crap right now and since this game is not a 1v1 game but squad v squad and team v team game, being the only person who has any clue on how to play on a team freaking sucks. I'm good, but not good enough to face an entire squad of good players by myself.

I've never quit a match. Those games where you get dropped in halfway through and the whole map is red have been some of my favorites. The challenge... can I get through and lay down a droplink? Will anybody dare use it? Will my militia swarmlauncher destroy that tank hugging my team's redline? Can I pull off a plus K/D ratio while half my team is hiding? How many times do I have to smack that hiding blueberry in the face with my riflebutt before he moves, shoots at me, or actually runs out of hiding and draws that sniper's attention allowing me the time to....
Edit to acknowledge this has not helped my K/D ratio |

I agree 100%, back when I played BF3 it was an instant indicator of how good someone was in general. Anyone who pushed 700+ Points/Min was a serious force on the battlefield. I think the stat would also be great as an AFK deterent. I know I was always playing BF3 with a purpose because I wanted more points.
Now when I go into skirmish I know it won't even log my Warpoints or K/D, oh well. |

the general disorganized nature of battles shows how necessary some kind of platoon chat is. we would also like to see employment record affected when mercs leave battles after they start. cowards should be exposed. it might make sense to see a small SP penalty as well. -50 SP wouldnt cripple players but would provide a necessary deterrent to leaving battles. whether being employed by an npc corp or not, a merc that signs up to fight should fulfill his contract or suffer consequences. |

I've been kicked out of games plenty of times for some reason, and thus losing my fitting.
Doesn't surprise me if my clone stays on the battlefield to eventually get killed. So those you're seeing quitting after a death might very well just be at the receiving end of bugs. |

We're not national soldiers, we're capitalists. If we see that a battle is hopeless and we leave, that's just a cost-benefit analysis; makes more sense to cut your losses then to keep spending time and money fighting. The lack of pay, and the fittings you used and lost is consequence enough. |

It is the same people who have been doing it for years, or possible the people they have "taught" to do that so they can be represented as "KDR Gawds"
it happens every multiplayer game out there... and if you think it's bad on consoles (MAG/ DUST/ warhawk/ socom) you should see how bad it gets on PC....
on PC you get things like "oh they can kill me i quit, i wanna buff my stats" but you also get people who host the match get killed a few times and either option A. kick you from the room or option B. move you to their team so no one on the other team has a chance and everyone on the other team gets smashed....
Don't be surprised when it happens, and we all probably know someone who does it.... or uses modded controllers.... or lags on purpose (ie. updating files on wifi on STEAM while playing Dust.....) |
