After my games of dust and continuous lose of my advanced gear from unseen snipers, I suggest that they implement something like BF3 has. In BF3 snipers have scope glint that gives away their position. I'm not sure how the scope works in the DUST universe, but I'm assuming it's not using lenses, so perhaps CCP should implement some sort of red light coming from the scope of the sniper? So that way, we can at least SEE the snipers. This would probably have to wait until they fix the textures, etc. |

Well this post is a little dumb, sure its annoying being sniped when u have spent alot of money on top class gear, but isnt the point of a sniper to be concealed and strike from shadows when le as t likely to be spotted? After being in the recieving end as well as dealing end of sniping i have learnt to take it slower rather than run into the opeb and keep my eyes peeled, there are plenty of places in cliffs and on alot of buildings and pile ons that players can get to by climbing or drop ship, always be aware of your position and surrounding cover, take a short moment to glimpse cliffs and tall buildings, if you wep has a scope utilize it to see further distances. Adding a glint or red line of sight will spoil the game for many especially a red line the aspects of this would destroy the whole point of a sniper, the basic advice is man up and take it like a man, if your dying alot with expensive gear maybe your not ready to use it, im no master of the game and still use mid range gear as its not expensive and does the job y waste money when u could die numerous times by sniper fire on some levels. Follow the above tips and see how that helps if your the type that has to run blazing into battle then try follow a small crowd of troops to ensure u are not a single target |

Well, let's see. If I can see the red light, for example, coming from the sniper it just means that I know where he is. He still has the range advantage. You're right the sniper's job is to be concealed, however, it's not to camp in the same spot the entire round. They can take their shot and move on to another spot. If it'll make you happy, we'll make it only when they're looking through the scope that the red light appears. This will not destroy snipers, the BF3 sniper class is still playable. The only difference is now I have to pick a tactical position (perhaps behind the enemy?). |

I understand what your trying to say but i still think the red ine idea is a no no as a sniper will prob spend most of his time in scope thus shiwing exactly where he is, so maybe some sort of twinkle/glint depending on weather and position would be exceptable as long as it wasnt constantly shining a becon non a snipers position |

Would you then have CCP refund all skill points that have been put into profile dampening? Sorta defeats the purpose to have a skill to make my self less visible only to have a bright red light show you where my head is. My suggestion is (if snipers kill you that often) grab a sniper rifle and learn the best spots to camp so that you can avoid them or at least be aware of where bullets might come from. I really dont think that my class should be penalized for bringing in 40+ kills a match without moving. It is not our fault red dots constantly run to pile of dead bodies and then wonder why they died. If more players learned to avoid snipers then we would be forced to move to find more kills. |

Indeed.
To the op :
Invest in long range sensors and increasing sensor precision if you think you should see more. Also, maybe your generalist fit isn't too good for counter sniping. Maybe a sniper on your side might help.

How does a Sniper turn invisible?
1. Train up Dropsuit Command, and use a few SP to unlock Profile Dampening so you can max that out as well. 2. Bring a Scout suit. 3. Hope nobody's trained up significantly into Sensor operation. 4. Never take a shot when anyone at all on the enemy team has you, your target, or any part of the line between you and the target in their field of view. 5. Make sure you ALWAYS land one-shot kills.
You guys DO remember that Sniper Rifles leave a tracer when fired, right? There's already a giveaway when you're shooting. And you DO remember that there are directional damage indicators that can get you looking to the right direction to catch the tracer on a follow-up shot. |

Because you're getting [rightfully] destroyed in your thread I will take pity on you. You have been added to my "do not shoot in pub matches with my sniper rifle' list. I'll even go so far as to shoot at your feet or a foot above your head when I see you standing still out in the open field in the hopes that you will spot me and wise up. I will however flank you and tear you to pieces with my SMG if I catch you trying to to run up on me from behind. |

I'm an Arbitor in a heavy suit, as sniper duels bore me to tears now. As was illustrated earlier at Manus Peaks: the Good Idea Fairy paid a visit to the enemy team and each of the two snipers I made run for their lives, 4 times because they keep reviving the other, I'm sure the thought that one stay hidden if the other fell, then dash in, revive, wash, rinse, repeat, seemed providential in thought, alas, it wasn't, just got me free kills. Here's an idea: I grow weary of object lessons, taught at a range of 400+ meters: if I shoot you in the head the first time, then you get revived, and I put you down, again, by shooting you in the head, again, task, standard, and evolution taught, you don't get to be revived, again. |

Snipers are fine. Red zone mechanics and the ability to terrain glitch making a sniper immune to counter sniping are what make me dislike snipers. Some snipers, dare I say many of the best, stay in the same spot all game because they know the little bump in the hill they are sniping from (technically through) protects them from being subject to counter sniping. Fix those two things and they should be able to sit in one spot all day, just as long as they are subject to counter sniping. |

So let me get this strait you want CCP to add in a function to the sniper to completely make their scan precision and scan profile mechanic (that is obviously working the way intended) so that you don't have to actually stop looking at your feet and search for the red dot in the hills or on a building to know where a sniper is?!? ............................. lol, I just made a topic about the SR contrails. Not every shot leaves them behind. The better guns like the Ishukone, kalaakiota, and Thale's don't. The MTL one does with every shot. I'm pretty sure OP is one of the guys with the 'neo' suits I've been wasting with my MLT gear
It's bad enough that the TACNet is messed up so much that heavies, Logis, and dropships can sneak up on me when I've got a Complex Range Amplifier and a Complex Precision Enhancer equipped. But no, I should be the blinking red light that is easier to spot than a heavy who's dashing because it is unfair that someone wanted to stand still in open ground, looking the other way. |

But red line snipers are ENTIRELY useless. Really they are just basic campers farming WP. No one cares about them because their so useless. And if a sniper had and skill as a sniper he would lay a mine at the entrance to where he is sniping and kill anyone quickly trying to get to him. |

I snipe Snipers in a tank....
Theyre EZ to spot... You can see bullet "path" as they fire, they typically dont kill you in a single shot unless your defenses suck/theyre a good sniper (which is rare...) so watch the red HIT indicator marker...
Scout suits dont show up on scanners...its kinda what they do. I'd stop worrying about snipers and start worrying about a scout shotty shooting you in the arse. |

If you don't like having to pay for more gear, then don't play. Simple. Or you can pay attention to whats going on around you. I'm a sniper (most of the time). And I still get my a** handed to me. Of course I also have found quit a few snipers in their nest. I just shot them and move on. And when I say "found" I mean I've come up behind them and Head Shot them. I'm new to the game but I'm also ex-Navy. I've got a few friends who are Army and Marines. Think like a soldier. Good Luck next time. |

Those sniper rifles are pretty easy to hear too. When patrolling near sniper friendly areas and no blueberries in sight it's a dead giveaway to check certain spots. That scanning stuff is a useful tool but so is combat situational awareness. |

so what you're saying is 'if you're getting sniped join the wimps'
no thank you, i would like something more than a lackluster firing trail from snipers, because when they shoot you, that should give you some directionality. all i get most of the time is the sound of a shot flying by my head, and nothing else to tell me where i've been shot at from. granted, yes, snipers are supposed to hide, but not in the same spot all the freaking time. when the maps get bigger, if you sit in one place you're likely to get passed by, or left behind. and i will GLADLY leave a sniper in the dust if he's too scared to move up.
just because snipers ruin your day, dont join them, just remember that if they are sitting in one spot.. you know where they are, and you'll shove an SMG up their asses and watch them scream |

This must be a troll post, as someone carefully pointed out, you can see a sniper by the redlight, that will appear from his head, noone what profile level he has, especially if you have a sniper yourself. If you runn in a straight line with advanced gear out in the open, it's your own fault.

The sniper glint was actually my biggest complaint about BF3. Snipers were so easy to kill there it was sad. They have a giant white light right where they are, might as well have changed it to a blinking bullseye. The thing about Battlefield 3 why that might even have been nessecary was the abundace of camoflague, not just cover. There was dark areas and bushes etc etc. There is not really much of that in Dust to even think about needing a blinking bullseye over Dust snipers. |
