I agree. I have strongly advocated for all players, regardless of what corp they are in, to come together and work towards making a thriving community that not only helps CCP with proper feedback (whether it's positive or negative feedback) but also helps new players with sharing experience and knowledge.
Remember, the key to a successful MMOFPS like Dust is a successful community. But as N1ck pointed out, it's not just the players that need to do their part. CCP has to step up with their communication with us players just like how they do with communicating with Eve Online players.
Live events and tournaments are fun, but keeping players informed is just as fun. I understand the running joke regarding SOON (TM) and all, but it's time to be a little more serious here, CCP. We have waited long enough. We are not asking you to give EXACT dates. All we are simply asking is at least a general idea of when the next build will be (just before fanfest, somewhere in a certain month, the beginning of winter, which quarter of the year, etc.). Something that's not too vague but not too exacting that you feel pressured to meat a deadline. |

Funny, that's what the doomsayers said about Eve Online a few years ago. Then they came crawling back when they realized WoW and GW2 sucked. |

DUST Fiend wrote:N1ck Comeau wrote:And i love how veterans at the game think they know everything about the game and think the game is ruined I said neither. I'm simply stating that having played for a year, not a whole lot has changed, and many of the things that have changed so far, have arguably been for the worse (or have had such a minor impact as to be a nonfactor) What it boils down to is that many of the players that have been loyal and actually doing their best to test and play the game are losing interest and hope because CCP prefers to tickle our balls instead of going all the way.
I have been here since May of last year and I have seen vast improvements.
1. No more Invalid Fittings infecting your menu in the middle of a match.
2. Lag still needs work, but at least it has improved to the point where I don't see any constant microjumping from both myself and those I see.
3. My PS3 no longer hard freezes every 3 matches.
4. Graphics have improved enough to allow the profile dampening skills to be of practical use. But the graphics are still far from Eve-level.
5. We can least organize into corps. Back then, we didn't have corps. Not even the ability to create our own squad.
6. Dropships no longer act as aerial bumper cars. Unfortunately the LAVs still act like bumper cars but on ice with slick tires.
7. Drop uplinks no longer move across the map on overview on their own after deploying them.
Other than these, we still have problems. When you look at the small part of the big picture, you can easily assuming that the game is badly broken. But when you step back and see the big picture, the canvas is at least progressing. But that doesn't mean we should allow the unfinished part of the canvas to discourage us from trying to help finish it. |

Which brings me back to my first point about: Soon TM and a Dwindling playerbase.
Just give the other games like CoD and BF enough time to start failing. EA is already screwing up big time with the whole Sim City debacle. |

Which brings me back to my first point about: Soon TM and a Dwindling playerbase. Just give the other games like CoD and BF enough time to start failing. EA is already screwing up big time with the whole Sim City debacle. This is undeniable. The difference between CoD and DUST is that one is successful. I love the idea of DUST but...Lawd the slow...And like I said, FPS crowd is really fickle. Especially with games like Destiny coming out soon.
I'm sorry, but I've played many CoD and Halo games and even my friends who are die-hard CoD/Halo fans are starting to admit that those games are just copies of the same thing. There are still game breaking bugs and glitches that plague CoD and Halo. Halo has had the same glitch for 11 years and it was built by a company that was backed by a multi-billion dollar investor (Microsoft) and even FUBARED the anniversary edition of Halo: Combat Evolved. Then there is CoD with its huge problem with connecting with a host (rumor has it they use lagswitches).
On a single-player level, CoD and Halo are great games. But on a multiplayer level they annoy me. But even Halo is starting to annoy me on a single player level because when you move around I now feel like a three-legged cow swimming through molasses. |
