As CCP has said that tank v tank combat is being focused upon, it gives me hope that tanks will finally be balanced properly.
At the moment, the biggest problem with tanks is that they do ridiculously high damage (ion cannon, particle accelerator) and yet are unable to actually "tank" damage. Missile turrets (with some splash damage adjusted) are what tank weapons should be based off of.
A few days ago, I was in a Sagaris, and an enemy Gunloggi snuck up on me. We were both using missile turrets, so although he snuck up on me, it was a good 30-40 second battle and I was able to quickly turn and adjust my tank to gain an advantage, winning the fight, yet only with 1500 shields left.
And that, in my opinion, is what tank v tank should be. |

im not a tanker at all, but it is enjoyable to see two tanks going at it right in the middle of everything...Gonna be really pretty to watch when we start seeing laser tanks battling each other! imagine that on a night time map ....LASER LIGHT SHOW!!!! |

I saw too many shield tanks on the field recently. It just makes me happy lol
Missiles work now? I hope not... Dust world is better off without them imo :) |

I wish they'd just hurry up and implement vehicle capacitor and cap warfare. There's so much about vehicle combat, both versus vehicles and infantry, that's going to change drastically with that, that any balancing without it just seems like a waste. |

If they go cap warfare then i want mods which i can perma run like in EVE
Plus we will get vamps/neuts/webbers/cap boosters etc and skills for all aswell
The number of diff tanks you could build would be mental aswell |

I agree that this is more fun, but you do realize that real tank combat is usually 1 shot 1 kill at ranges beyond 2km? |

I fear the idea of E-war LAV's roaming the battle field webbing shield tanks and sapping armor tanks.
Though I also fear the concept of a tank blowing through cap charges and running several damage resistance modules at the same time permanently |
