So I was wondering what does everyone want to see from these things in the next build, what is most important and you really hope ccp working on.
I really want to see the mail and starmap more then anything.
I want to msg Eve pilots without worry and stop using x as send >.<
I want the starmap so i can see the whole universe of eve and be able to see its beauty :D
Also great to see the FW status easy on map and be able to possibly move around the cluster using the map?? |

For some reason a SQL Query like lookup for your contacts list takes 60 seconds or more to load, imagine thousands of systems with 5 or more fields worth of data to populate AND VISUALIZE!
Because of this it would be nice to be able to load by region maybe, or at least see regions. Then I'd say having the ability to see economic information relevant to mercs, such as where contracts are.
Its probably hard to say right now, because you'd probably want to establish a purpose for the map first and then let that determine what goes on it. Will systems without temperate planets be relevant to us for any reason? Will we need geographic information for marketplace purchases? Will we want to use the map to make other choices or jump into another interface. Could we select and observe planets from it, could we see corp assets in it?
I think those sorts of questions impact what you build. FW Corp leaders will want and expect one thing, the average small corp/squad w/o territory will want another, nullsec folks another. |

It's hard to say since we don't know the game features you have planned or us.
The star map should be like Eve's, beautiful but also functional.
It really all depends if we can change station? will assess be location based? Will sec and sov have any real baring on the info we need from he map? How will PvE elements be handled? |

When you compare EVE's starmap to something like Dotlan which is really useful though? Personally I don't ever (now that auto pilot settings can be accessed in space) open the EVE starmap. I just have Dotlan open on another screen.
Agreed though, any kind of new starmap will need to be functionally useful while maintaining being pretty. This is a game and our artists do like to make pretty things after all. :) |

I use the map simply because I have to haul hundreds of thousands of units of minerals through low sec. That all important " average pilots" and " ships destroyed" really saves my profit margin. |

Agreed the only time i used to like at the map was just to see how pretty it is due to how easy it is to read the dotlan maps.
Although if the eve/dust star map could be broken down to only show stars in your region/ constellation/ local area (+1/2 jumps around you) and hides everything else completely (dont have any stars in background you dont care about or nebulas ect).
The map would instantly be easier to read and be alot more useful
buuut if you want to see the whole beauty of eve you can |

This is a good list, here is my take on it:
Sovereignty: Faction, Alliance, Corporation for System, Planet, District, Ward and Susceptibility to Change - This is pretty straightforward. It lets me know who owns what and whether or not I can try to conquer it.
Battles (Current, Last Hour, 24 Hours) with Status (Pending/Beginning/Ending/Completed), Results, Killmails - This lets me know not only what battles I can join, but it also tells me where the hotspots are and lets me see who is stomping on whom and to some small degree- how.
Intel: Current and Potential (could be built) Infrastructure in the District, Ward - This lets me plan my strategy by considering what I might face attacking the area, and what economic benefits I might reap from conquering it.
Contracts: Mercenary battles available to me (or anyone) right now and in the future. - This lets me not only get into awesome matches that mean something, but they enable me to see how those connect to the larger New Eden milieu.
News: Tags and pop-ups for news items (CCP, ISD, Alliance, Corp) - This lets me not just read news- I can see WHERE news items, chronicles, etc. are happening. This gives me a larger context for them. By enabling not just CCP and ISD, but also my Alliance and Corp to post news items with geotagging, the starmap news becomes even more relevant to my experience. |

These are all good points though in light of CREST. In other words, what can CCP design that wont be coopted or easily out done outside of the game by an independent developer? |

I do use the Solar System map, though. In nullsec, it can be important to see where things are relative to each other- for avoiding those kitten bubbles, for instance.
I imagine that in Dust, planetary maps will be critical. In addition, if we are trying to coordinate ANYTHING with EVE, we will need an easy way to see system maps as well as constellations and regions.
After all, if I'm trying to coordinate orbitals with EVE and I'm fighting on a planet way over in the kitten end of Goon space...
Well, I'm hosed. But I need to be able to figure that out from the map before I take the contract. |

I agree entirely, which is why any kind of new map really has to offer usability and function as a priority. |

Hopefully something awesome but you are right, our third party developers seem to have more time to develop things than we do. O_O
That being said I don't think we should focus on worrying about that. We should be offering a basic level of service in our game that meets the needs of the average player and is of high production quality. |

The EVE in-game map is interesting, beautiful and shows your actual position in the cluster and I do use it to some degree. However, I agree that the Dotlan maps are so much more useful in providing the information relationships that are crucial for decision making.
If CCP could create an in-game map system that rivaled what Wollari has built it would be fantastic. Wollari has provided a wonderful service to the EVE community but in the end CCP should not stay away from providing something because a player got there first. Players come and go and it's amazing that he has continued to provide this service but he could lose interest at any point.

These are some great ideas can we get all of these please FoxFour \o/
One more thing I would like to add is where are my corp/alliance mates fighting now: Can see contracts both pub and merc and crop contracts showing where my corps/alliance buddies are in so it is posisble for me to quickly find a friendly group and join in the match if there is space on the battlefield on there side (depends on if pub match sides is chosen at random still)

1) YOU ARE HERE - this would have to change when viewed from the war barge as opposed to viewing from your quarters.
2) CURRENT BATTLES - you should be able to see where your mercenary and corporate contracts are scheduled, and where the current "instant battles" are taking place.
3) LINKS - it would be cool to browse the galaxy, find a planet that is having active instant battles and to queue up for a game from the star map. this would be an impressive demo to show off the size of the game universe.
4) SOVEREIGNTY - you should be able to toggle between faction, alliance or corporation or turn this off.
5) ASTRONOMICAL DETAILS - i'd like to be able to zoom in and see planet details or at least solar system details with a list of planets. i'm not sure how much of this data can be made available to the PS3 without it taking forever to load. |

Top 5:
Corp/Alliance mails aren't ghost mails from the Dust perspective
Alliance chat + MOTD in the Dust client (even if the MOTD's are different than the EVE ones)
A "pretty" interface to see what districts on a planet are owned by who, and who is fighting where and when.
Corp contract overhaul. - see all the matches that are scheduled, allow the choice of planet/district, allow non-FW planets to be claimed (even if it is meaningless for now).
Corp contract broadcasts that let everyone in the corp know a corp contract was accepted and when it is. Maybe even a way to let people "x" up for it even while in a different match so they immediately are moved into the corp battle once it is rolling. |

I'd prefer different, but be modifiable from either client.
This is mostly because the information for the Dust guys isn't going to be as useful for the EVE guys and vice versa.
Example:
POS coming out of reinforced at 0100 evetime
is meaningless to Dust in the same way that
Corp Battle Scheduled for 0100 evetime
is meangingless to EVE. But it is much easier to modify this stuff from the EVE client, so I'd like to be able to change it from there. |
