What are Certificates? Certificates are a very useful tool in EVE Online which offer benchmarks of skills, allowing players to more easily plan what skills to train for their chosen profession. I personally feel that this is the best tool to help new players deal with the massive skill system in EVE, and wanted to bring that same tool to Dust514. This is by no means an official certificate system, but it is heavily based off the official system in EVE Online. I will continue to update and improve this system as new skills are added, and will gladly take your comments and suggestions at [email protected]
Do I have to use these? No. Certificates are simply guidelines for suggested skills and in what order to train them. Each certificate is not necessarily required to play a specific role, but they are designed around the skills necessary to equip the proper equipment and modules for that role. I have however made the diagrams in such a way that will allow you to print out this document and check off your progress as you skill up, allowing you to more readily keep track of your skills for certificates.
So how do they work? Each certificate has up to four levels, Basic, Standard, Improved, and Elite. Higher level certificates require more training and build off the skills in lower levels, but also provide better support to that particular role. If youGÇÖre heavily specializing in a particular role, the Elite level certificate should be your end goal. Most certificates require certain skills at specific levels, these will be outlined in green; whereas some require other certificates at certain levels, these will be outline in blue.
Where can I get information on these Certificates? Right here! Below is a link to a Google Doc where you can download the PDF containing all of the certificates in an easy to use graphical form. I've found that viewing the PDF through Google causes some graphical issues, so please actually download the file to your computer. This will allow the PDF to display properly as well as give you access to the bookmarks within the PDF for easier navigation.

Just wanna add the TL;DR: Certificates are like graduation papers. Have skills X, Y and Z levelled up sufficiently f.ex to earn the certificate which will only be useful to show corporations that yes, you DO have those skills. It has no other effect.
But agreed, it'll give the newbies a guideline to work towards, telling them what to level up to suit a certain role CCP/we have defined. |

AWESOME adaptation of the EVE mechanic to the DUST space. This will really help lost noobs plan their training and feel they're accomplishing something with their skills.
Corrections Note:
Page 6, second certificate. Title says Core Mobility Basic... but the blue box under that says Core Integrity Standard.
Only bug i saw... otherwise, fantastic! |

The certificate system works very well in Eve and I hope CCP does the same for DUST since there are a ton of players here still confused over the whole thing. |

Thanks for pointing that out. I used a similar template on all the pages and must have forgotten to edit that bit from the previous certificate set. I'll add it to my list of known issues to be fixed in the next update.
Also I appreciate the support, try to help spread the word about this...I think its going to be an invaluable tool for players and corps alike to organize their players better and help with skill planning. |

Interesting concept, I like what you've done and I think it's a good platform for an in-game system in the future. However what i'm working on here is more of a placeholder to help newbies get their head around the skill system early on, I expect it to be made obsolete once we get a more proper system implemented into the Dust client itself, but for now it's a useful tool.
Because we didn't get new dropsuit info this week, Im going to go ahead and assemble some basic Professions for the time being. |
