The thing can already fly. Why have the option to spawn in it and drop down from the atmosphere or MCC or whatever.

This would also make more sense when bombers and fighters come along because when people are engaged in a real land battle it's not like the enemy ships in all their air vehicles to take off a quarter mile away. They fly in from far off, surprising everyone and wrecking things.

 Dropships have no AI installed.

Doesn't have autopilot. Can't fly itself.

An option to spawn in your Dropship and fly into the battlefield would be nice, but that shouldn't negate the option of calling it in after spawning.

+1, but not if it's the only option.

I do understand why dropships are brought in by RDV but i think your tright about the fighters when they brought in there has to be a different way to launch them. possible you have to go to a supply depot or an extraction point / MCC and from there your clone is stored safely (no loss of clones)

you are then loaded into a clone that is at the hanger bay on the ground out side the battlezone from where you launch the fighters

Or the fighters are dispatched from a side hatch within the MCC which is accessed via a door in the dropbay that we have access to currently, you can only gain access to the hanger bay if you have a fighter in your inventory this stops players camping the hanger trying to steal aircraft like we have in games like battlefield. the aircraft is then launched out and your ready to go

 p.s. I want fighters now please :D

Well I know it has no AI and I only said to have an option to spawn in it and fly it down, or at least from slightly above the ceiling into the map. Or from off red-side.

The thing is also that tanks and drop-ships are constructed on demand so its likely the RDV was 'married' to the vehicle before being dropped on demand as part of the factory process.

At the speed those fighters fly, RDVing it into the game and trying to lift off might actually result in more vehicle losses than when the blind cat piloted RDV's start knocking into buildings and eachother....for once.

I should just be able to hire a butler to fly my dropship down, he could even bring me a nice cup of tea while he's at it.

Come on CCP, these are the things. Where the **** is my god damn flying butler?

The real annoyance is how you can't really call anything in without the entire enemy team knowing what it is. I want to call in a dropship to sneak attack the enemy team, but my RDV decides to fly right over the red dots like HEY LOOK WHAT I GOT GUIZE :3

So when you're on the respawn screen, hit d-pad right to bring up the vehicle/OMS/other stuff menu, and select "vehicles" and you can spawn in any vehicle you own that has a Mobile CRU fitted.

Sounds like a good reason for people to want CRUs on their vehicles.

unpiloted, say goodbye after 2 forge gun shots.

maybe 3 if you get inside. Or they could just nuke down the rdv while it hovers around aimlessly. FUN

If I'm in a game where we are redlining them and I have an orbital, I'll wait until someone calls something in and drop it on the RDV as it drops the vehicle off. I usually at least get a kill and I get the bolas as well as whatever it was carrying. I can only imagine how annoy that must be on the other side, damn easy to spot RDVs!

Everyone does this, because it's too easy. It's kind of like calling in RDV's to kill other tanks or dropships.

seems exploity even though it's not a bug per say. Just cheap and ill thought out. Like spawn camping.

 B) Spawn in it, but have no weapons so if you bail you better find a depot

I'd take option B any day.
 Sounds neat.

Ooooooooo 'added instructions' - fly to general location, smash into nearest object, try to comically land on someone/something/toss what was ordered upside down and a mile away

CCP should just fire you to do their AI. At least you didn't program it to also
"Find Ngurutho's dropship, materialize out of nothing, approach ship at 100 knots hit him with the full force of a blue turtle shell".

Sounds like a good advantage for those suits to have, no?
